Stage 2 fuel pump install, gas gauge issue
I didn't have this issue when I installed the stage 1 upgrade a few years ago but a few weeks ago I installed the stage 2 upgrade with bucket and now my gas gauge is acting weird.
It's like it's at different points on the gas guage when I start my car and can be up to 1/4 tank off for what I can gather. The distance to empty is struggling also, it's all over the map. Did I mess something up with the float when I installed you think?

Thanks fellows.
Holy crap that vent tube clip (the one I can never get out without breaking) is $13!

Had the same issue, pulled it 3 times on my stage 3 and when I'd fill the car. It'd only go to 3/4th but then after about 10 minutes of driving it'd make its way to F.
Now all of a sudden it is back to working properly and goes straight to F on a fillup. |

You have to release the two barbs then push the clip IN. Not pull it out. It operates the same as the rest of the "push in" clips on the other hoses.... Push it in further and then the hose releases. Steve at fuel it is apparently clueless on how this clip actual functions which is why he includes a new one. His directions actually show how to remove it the wrong way. |

I took the fuel pump out again, there was nothing wrong with the float. It's attached just fine and nothing is impeding it's travel.
Gas gauge says I have half a tank but it was almost full of fuel. Are there two sides to the gas tank? If so could there be something wrong with how the fuel flows between the two sides? Is there some type of calibration cycles that it needs? At a loss here.

Very weird indeed. I had my fuel it stage 2 installed last week,& no issues have risen so far. Hopefully it isn't a faulty unit or something . Best of Luck dude.

If the float rod is not bent, and moves freely, maybe you have the bucket "clocked" slightly off? There is a recess where the float can travel to the bottom of the tank. Also make sure that none of the return lines interfere with the float rod for the entire travel.

End result was issues filling the tank, inaccurate gas gauge, etc. This was solved after clocking the bucket correctly and tightening down the ring with the proper tool. |

I have the ring tool and did a successful stage 1 install a few years ago.
I know the bucket is clocked right, I can tell due to where the top connectors are located. All the return lines, fuel lines and vent tubes are coming from drivers side of the tank and the float is on the other side facing the passenger side.

Yes, I to like others watched the video about the clip that was made by a very well intending SteveAZ. The first time I took out my pump, that stupid clip took me like 20 minutes and because my pump was more of a custom unit I did not have a spare clip, so I was extra careful. Then the second time I removed my pump I figured out that you just have to make sure there is zero tension on it. So I just make sure the hose/clip assembly is pushed all the way on, then press firmly on the back of the clip and it slides right off. Every time, 10 seconds! One tip to first timers that maybe everyone does not know yet: (weather you have the ring tool or not) Spray the locking ring with PB blaster or WD40 or whatever you have a few minutes before you start to remove it. Comes off way easier. I also give it a little teflon spray (or lithium) before I re-install it to make the next time much easier.

Still no worky.
So I took my lpfp out again. Checked for possible obstructions of the float. Nothing. I put on my spare float....no bueno. Still no worky. Next I will start checking the various vent tube scenarios that I have heard about...clogged vent? Or? My car has zero other issues to go along with this like stalling or whatever. I will report back soon.....
