That camera in Amazon is way cheaper. Good find.

MACRO_PDC: aktiv
MACRO_REARVIEW: aktiv
RVC_CIC: wert_23
MACRO_L6_PARKMENU: aktiv
PDC_DIRECTION: vertikal

As far as i can tell, adding option $3AG to the VO is not supported in Bimmercode. might still have to use NCSExpert, doing some more research!!

Just installed everything, worked flawlessly the first time but for some reason it has now stopped working, CIC continues to display whatever was last on the screen! Re-checked all the connections with a multi-meter and also coding.
RVC_CIC needs to be wert_23 for my car, wert_21 throws errors!

Only thing i have not done is the VO coding, has anyone been successful just coding the CIC without the VO coding? If not, i will have to get Windows and install NCSExpert.

Really surprised why it worked for a few minutes!!! Any suggestions?

You're wondering why it's not working without the proper coding?

Used NCS expert and VO coded $3AG in the modules, verified that the CIC module is coded correctly as well.
For any that need help with VO coding, this biog is great:
http://blog.obdii365.com/2016/08/31/...by-ncs-expert/

If anyone can offer suggestions on what could be wrong or how to debug, it will be much appreciated, this is my son's car and i really would like to have the backup camera!!
Note that the camera did work for a bit before it stopped and now the display does not switch to rear camera at all, if coded back to default, PDC works again!!

Says the guy who thinks without the proper coding this is going to work, lol

Anyhow, make sure all the coding is correct, also make sure the CAN wires are twisted tight, continuity testing isn't going to help you here.

Did you happen to use one of those shitty adapter harnesses? People have had problems with them in the past. If all else fails you might have a bad emulator on your hands, although if it worked the first time it should work the second and third time.

I still think you've got a coding issue

VO coding did not help, all connections are rock solid - verified with a digital multimeter. It was intermittent, would work when the car was first started but never after the first time.

Last night when i started the car I noticed a burning smell, removed CIC and the emulator. The emulator is clearly dead, not a coding issue buddy, I ended up coding VO codes as well! Luckily no other electronics got damaged!

Anyways, now on to dealing with a return on eBay to China, wish me luck!!!

I bought 2 and one I had issues with from this seller, they denied anything could ever be wrong with their module and it was always an installer issue and refused to replace it, started a return with amazon and they claim they can't send a return label even though ebay says they are responsible for it, so guessing will never see my shipping refunded, by the time I deal with shipping it hardly worth it for the 50 bucks back.

Please save yourself the hassle and do not use this vendor.
I was lucky that there was no damage to the car but the emulator literally had smoke coming out of it.

To those using the Autofocus one recently, I'm a little confused even after checking the diagram on post 198.

My emulator has the following:
-two CAN wires
-red power and black ground
-white camera power

My camera has the following:
-red and black off the micro connector (where do these go? Can I ignore the power one since the RCA described below has power as well?)
-another red one off the male RCA connector (where does this red wire go? To white wire off the emulator?)

And a lose female RCA with two pins (going to 21 and 24).

Any help in understanding the wiring situation would be appreciated.

Thanks!

From the camera:
  • the red/black cable goes to ground at the back of your car
  • the RCA at the other end
    • yellow RCA male connector
    • red wire -> this goes to white of emulator (you get power only on the
white when car is on reverse)
RCA female Pigtail - connect to 21 and 24 in harness

for the rest, just follow the diagram in https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...&postcount=126

if you are using the harness, don't just go with the wire colors, they might be different, follow the cable based on where they are pinned.

Thanks for the help. Coded it and the display shows the vertical PDC but the camera source is black... Any idea what could be the culprit? Same result on either wert_21 or wert_23

First check that your RCA cable pigtail is tapped correctly for positive and negative to the harness.

I'm an idiot. I didn't seat the RCA pins all the way into the stock quadlock lol.

It all works now! No lag either upon switching into reverse.

I decided to go with Carsystems (Extended, so I get dynamic parking lines). Sending cash to Ukraine was interesting...

Two issues:

1. The kit does not include terminals to connect to pins 21 and 24. Does anyone know what works? Or have a pic of what comes with kits that provide them?

2. Does anyone know how to de-pin terminals 11 and 9? Do you just pry up on the green part, then de-pin like normal? Afraid of breaking something. (pic below is just grabbed off web - it's not mine - I don't have white connector at bottom right - thus question #1) Carsystems requires wiring emulator inline into CAN wires, and I'd prefer to give myself more room to do that.

Thanks.

Think I figured this out. A DIP jumper fit well on the pins, so I got some Dupont jumper wires off ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/253824729484.

Still could use input on #2. Thanks.
