Seems ok although when i asked about the 177ps box they show on the website, they couldnt sell me it?why i asked...? never got a answer so i guess ull have to email them.

See you are lucky as its not encrypted on the 163bhp models so u can rip a proper remap on your model, where as we cant on our 177 bhp models due to BMW and there lame system on 320d ED models.

Why oh why....330d and 335d can do as they like ...still im more fuel efficent lol...or so im gonna try bullshitting the bigger engine boys lol.

Budgie, the 'blanked off' (non Bosch) ECU on the new ED 2.0d engines is what will be probably be used in the future on the 6 cylinder diesels according to Simon at E-Maps who did my re-map, so same boat eventually? Although BMW themselves may apparently set up a division of their own doing re-maps, but at what price!

Yeah, you're right about the fuel economy.......but no price can be put on fun though

i heard they allready were

my mate says his brother has had it done direct by BMW ( and yeah it was dam expensive ) apparently there is a 'official' remaping place he was saying that his brothers car service callcuator is linked to it or something so when he goes out and nails it the service interval drops dramatically !! a way to keep it in check for waranty reasons apparently

will try to find out more

Yeah right, just another way to rip you off more like.

By the way Budgie, a remap is an MPG enhancement, the additions to BHP and Torque are an unfortunate consequence of said modification.
Lets face it,us 335D people hardly need more power do we!

Wouldn't surprise me if this "official" remap is a dealer doing it on the side...

Bought one

Well bought my Spider unit yesterday at 3.30pm, arrived this morning by Special Delivery - fitted it in 15 minutes (longest part was the routing).

Not been out for a "proper" drive as still at work but nipped round the block and it now feels like a go-kart!! much much quicker. Really impressed so far, will let you know after a real drive!!!

My model was is the 163bhp - reason favoured over remap for me was be able to remove for service etc, BMW advised me yesterday that flash updates are becoming part of regular service

Sorry guys still not been out roll on the weekend when I can hit some decent roads. Living in London has its downsides at times!!

All I will say that is is very smooth from the offset, turbo lag has just about gone (i'm driving an auto as well)........still like a go-kart around the city.

Will check back over weekend with more details.........

Well have given it a good run in and wow, it really makes a difference easily about a second quicker to 60, on the motorway the added torque just make the thing fly to 100!! and sooooooo smooth!

And the best thing with my go-kart, it really does feel like that now!! is that on Saturday I did a 200 mile round trip to deepest darkest kent, really testing the box out averaging around 85 / 90 on the M2 and when I got home my MPG was.........................................

54.3 MPG amazing!!

DJ, thanks for the write up, I think I'm convinced

I think I'll wait a little while though, as my car's not run in yet, or am I being paranoid ?

Still can't decide on remap or box - warranty is up in a couple of months.

I'm at under 1,000, gonna give the engine a chance to loosen up, then it'll be like having a new car again!
