Wrote a reply to Pedro at AA to see if I can also try this tune out. Can't wait!

Nic @ AA sent me the latest tune file a few days ago. I'll apply it tomorrow and see what's up.

Given what people charge for tunes on the N51/2 every update should be free imo regardless of when you bought it.

Hey guys I live in California and I'm all new to tuning. I have a 2006 330xi with 130k all bone stock; only have a muffler and resonator delete.
I was intended to buy a BMS powerbox but I read on other forums that it isn't worth it and that you should spend money on an actual tune. I'm really looking to getting an AA tune because BPC is looking a little to pricey for me. Is it worth for the money for one? |

I do notice a substantial hate on BMS is it because it isn't a true tune? |

Keep in mind the price differences you are seeing is because BPC is including their flashing tool in that total price, where AA gives you the option to add it on for another $225. If you go the AA route and do not get the Simon cable, you will need to pay a shop to flash for you (and re-flash if there is an update).

That said, I'd expect it costs about $100 per flash at the shop, so if you have to go back twice, that would pay for the tools directly, and let you swap flashes from stock to tuned, and vice versa whenever you please. I personally think it's worth getting the handheld or cable regardless of which tune you get (but I'm also no where near a shop, so this was my only option). |

I'll probably drive to the shop and buy the tune and the tool. Don't wanna mail them my ECU. |

Very nooby at this. So I don't even have to go to the shop correct? Just the buy the tool online, AA emails me the tune, plug the tool in, and flash the ECU? |

Exactly. For BPC I had to pull a base file from my car once I got the handheld, send it off to them, and then later that day I got the tune file for my car sent back for me to upload to the handheld and then load to the car. I'm pretty sure AA does something similar.

it's a CYA. If you don't have headers, it should pass emissions just fine - however, if you have headers, then there's nothing AA, BPC or anyone else can (or should) do to bypass that.

... if you're only adding a tune it doesn't apply to you, unless you're planning on changing your exhaust system as well (ie. deleting cats, headers without cats, muffler delete, resonator delete, etc). As long as you keep your exhaust stock you should be good to go.

hassmachine is correct. BPC is just putting that out there to cover themselves. Unless you are bypassing O2s or running non-catted headers you will be fine. I think AA possibly does the same if you go for their O2 bypass tune.
