When I had the 3stage IM installed on the stock car, it drove well but a little neutered compared to stock, which I expected given I didn't have the tune yet. The tune woke it back up to ever so slightly better than stock. Driveability is the same as stock. No disa dips or surges, which I expected. It's just like stock maybe a 'touch' livelier, but nothing more. Car's in great mechanical shape otherwise..fresh fluids filters spark plugs coils....you name it So how do I reset adaptations? |

What kind of fuel are you running?
I towed a 2100 pound trailer (+ 1000 pounds in the car) with the 328i from LA to Alabama over the weekend and when I finally got into Arkansas and fueled up with 93 Octane (no 91 out west), there was such a large immediate power bump that I pulled over to make sure my trailer door hadn't come open and I hadn't lost hundreds of pounds of gear. (I am going to start another thread about my adventure...) I hit 160mph this morning on the highway on the way to work (no trailer, hehe)...the BPC tune is the real deal for sure. I hope you get it going. Quote:

I'm away for work. Won't get to the car till Wednesday, so no update.
The 328i stock is still a decent car and plenty quick. It revs well and is downright explosive above 5000 rpm, so I was never disappointed in the stock car, especially since it's a 6 MT. Maybe that's why I'm not feeling a big difference, cuz I drove it hard to begin with? I run 93 octane exclusively. Any way to test the disa valves, or know that they are functional? Shop installed the manifold and it should all be working...but I'm not sure now...will see. |

I've never seen a $150 tune for any car from any tuner, ever.

Isn't it? What's to stop me from running in and changing periameters myself? I know the FXX guys had to use Piggybacks until someone was able to crack the encryption and flash it.
I remember people were having trouble tuning the MSSV70 and the MS45 |

I'm not talking about the RSA, I'm specifically talking about a XDF that has all the perimeters defined.

What does that have to do with encryption? There aren’t really public definitions, but nothing stops you from disassembling the software and figuring out definitions yourself

Yeah, thats just due to the specific cables. There's a slight but important difference from encrypted files to a signed file. The N55 cars aren't encrypted either, but the RSA signature was harder to break than say, MSD80, which has big security flaws (thankfully).
The RSA sig still has to be worked around, but if the files were encrypted that would be nearly impossible. The dumb thing is the files are encrypted when they send them to you, but you can just read the tune right back out of the DME after flashing, so its pointless. I'm sure there are many reasons why BPC stopped using the Simon cables. |
