Oil change interval in terms of times?

I know there are threads, which I read, where everyone agrees 7000 to 7500 miles is much more reasonable than 15 000 mile oil change but what about the time.

If you don't do 7500 miles a year is it still recommended to do yearly oil change?

Yes, every 7.5k or 1 year, whichever comes first.

Ya I'm coming up on a year now and will be changing soon, even though I probably got like 6k miles.

Also using Motul but will still change every year nonetheless

I put less than 2k a year on my 5-series, so I change that car every two years. My 335 gets it's oil changed annually (even though the idrive says 2 years).

EVERYONE knows that if you do not massage every milliliter of oil through your index finger and thumb*, THEN strain it through a 0.003 micron filter prior to adding it to the crankcase AND all of this oil fill procedure must be performed in an industial clean room with a 100% nitrogen atmosphere, the engine will fail 5,000 miles past the warranty period.

* Fingers must be cleaned with denatured alcohol prior to massaging oil.

I've changed the oil every 7500 or every year whichever comes first, it's the easiest maintenance job on these cars.

Anybody change the oil filter before the 7,500 mile mark? Mine was looking pretty rough during my recent oil change.

If it's not falling apart and you use a quality filter, I don't see a reason beyond excessive engine wear clogging the filter. In which case, you'd have bigger problems.

Garage List
I've had my car for one year now. Computer still says there's plenty of life left. I trust it. Why not? I'm sure the engine will outlast the rest of the car.

I've been doing that interval on my car for the past 107,000 miles. No leaks, boost, or compression issues.

True. While I was doing the OFHG and OCHG change I felt pretty discouraged as my intercooler hot pipe popped out during test drive to make sure everything was working, I figured heck, it's just a nut and it was so easy.

I wanted to do it next week of how tried and discourage I was but it gave me confidence. Car was in my garage 3 days but did everything in the end! lol

Well do you know what mileage or time your last oil change was done? If not, then I would do one ASAP myself so I can start tracking. You also have the oil reset indicator showing remaining millage IF it was reset at last oil change.

Sure, sorry to thread-jack!

Just to add- all new BMWs have a reduced OCI to 10K miles/1 year, so it may be best just to follow that.

What do you use on your engine bay? I’m looking to buy or try something new.
