Does this mean that those of us who started with manual, non-heated, non-sport seats still have power running to each seat which we can then tap into for power bolsters and seat heaters?

no, you need to have something electric - lumbar, bolster or heating

Sorry to revive an old thread. I did search for quite some time but mostly found information regarding when swapping between non-power vs powered seats.

My case is a bit different. I have LCI non-sport, electric, heated with memory (no lumbar though).

I am swapping to LCI sport seats, fully equiped (electric, heated, memory, lumbar and bolsters).

So, adding the power lumbar and bolsters, which I didn't have before.

Am I going to need to rewire to be able to tap power for the lumbar/bolsters?
Or is it plug and play and I will be able to use all the functions?

Great tutorial.

I have an E91 LCI which had non-heated, non-powered seats. I now have leather with lumbar button. Can I get the lumbar support working using this guide , or am I wasting my time ?

Thanks in advance

What you need is 2 short (5cm) wires & four connectors - two for each seat (part no 61138364842 or 61138364844 - depending on the wire thickness).
Pull out yellow socket from under the seat (before disconnect battery), dismantle it (you need 2 screwdrivers), slide out black part with cables out of yellow cover.
If you have heated seats they are powered by pin 4 (+) and 8 (-).
Just take out this two pins and solder to them short cable (you have to peel off from the connector a little bit of the material - if not solder would not "stick" to it.
On the other end of this cable you solder or "squeeze" connector
You put this connectors to the socket on the pins 9 and 13.
To sum up: 4 connected to 9 (both +) and 8 you connect with 13 (both -).
Put everything together, connect the battery. It's about one hour.
I'm hoping this helps when putting my LCI textile seats into my pre-lci car, both of which have powered bolsters

Hope someone can help

E90 LCI - original seats -Manual, Cloth, NON-heated, with electric bolster (side button) - can't remember if the electric bolster worked

NEW seats - Manual - Leather, HEATED, with electric bolster (not currently working)

The heating does not work but Ive been told it is due to coding which I will attempt soon.
I have also been told as the new seats are same but WITH heating only that the wiring is all the same and that I just need to code heating in

Is this correct?

also if swap is basically the same with just heating function, why does the electric bolster switch not work?

many thanks in advance

the last sentence is true only if seats which are replaced are electric and for coupe and cabrio
for sedan and touring passenger seat have differrent electrical config then driver seat
to complete your retrofit you need additional wiring
the coding of jbbf may be also required

p.s. i'm selling the appropriate wiring in private sale section
if someone decide that my comment is unacceptable, i'll remove it

Hi, is it an only way out to connect side bolsters if before there were seats without power?

What about airbag or belt tension plus and ground wires? Is it possible to connect with them?

Reviving the thread again. I have an E91 which had manual heated seats and I swapped them for LCI manual sports, heated with side bolsters.
Using this thread, I managed to power the heating, but I am still struggling to make the boslters work.
I tried with giving power to PIN7 and PIN9 but it didnt help with the bolsters.
Can anyone give more ideas? Thanks!
