I am under the impression that you'd require FSC code for 6NF. Is that correct?
No, 6NF does not require FSC codes.. 6NR(BMW Apps) do, if your iLevel is above 42.2

for 6NF, you need,
Baseplate (for media)(this has a unique blue HSD female connector)
Snapin Adaptor (media)
HSD cable (same part number for 6FL)
FBAS cable (for video out )

And, a bit more wiring needed than 6FL..

Hmm, dint know that..
USB hub is basically redundant for a 6FL retrofit..

Its USB + Aux in.
What you mean by that comment? Or are you saying aux in is redundant in this case?

I have made a thread on UK side showing what we have done.

thanks for your help.

Aux does not go thought the hub..

Hub is usually used to power two USB connectors (center console and ipod kit) as MULF2 only had one USB..

Combox already has 2 , and ipod kits are old relics now when combox is fitted, hence hubs dont matter.. :-)

What I am saying is , you dont need a Hub with a combox..

Thanks for the thread!

Cheers!

BTW,

I might need some help from you..

I have stock stereo system in my car, and how could I just leave it like that..
I have ordered a full Logic7 set (including amps) to retrofit in my car.
(I had bought the xd600/6 and the Jenherts xe200, but they were very costly to what O could get this L7 system for.. )

Anyway, this kit is for the e93, and my car is e92, and so it is missing the rear shelf speakers..

So,
1. How would it affect the L7 imaging if I do not install the rear shelf speakers?
2. Is there a way to run a 20Amp fused wire from the JBE? or is it easier to tap directly into the battery?
3. Where to get those 'spades' to re-enable the fronts once the subs are disconnected?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Cheers!

Well, I did it - thanks very much deepsrd for all of your help! Hardest part was definately removing the centre console

I wired up both the aux and USB and coded the car for $6FL (FA_WRITE to CAS and SG_CODIEREN to CIC and Media). Although I've tested the aux, I'll be using the USB slot and that works like a dream - love having the album artwork on the screen!

One tip I would give for the aux wiring is to get yourself some bushing contacts (61130006663) these slide straight into the connector blocks on the combox and aux in socket, which makes wiring a lot easier.

Now that I've done that, I fancy adding BMW apps 6NR - deepsrd or anyone else, do you know what's involved in that? So far I understand that you need another HSD cable to the combox and an FBAS-2 cable from the base plate to the head unit?

Apologies in taking the time to respond.
So you are adding L7 amp to your CIC.
As you know that L7 amp takes the signal via most loop, and output is through wiring to the drivers / speakers, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

That is not a problem. Your HU is coded for E92 and that is what retains the information for DSP settings and not the amplifier. So CIC will be sending the settings of E92 to the amp and not of E93.
All you need to do is to see how you can add the rear tweeters. Possible DIY?

Not sure if you are talking about the permanent power or remote wire. IF it is permanent wires, use the direct power from the battery.
I have not looked at the wiring of L7, but if it has remote wire, then use the battery for 12V source.

Female clip going to underseat
61136984750 plastic trim (2 of these, one for left and other one for right)
61138364838 female pin (4 of these, a pair going to the above part number)
Run new wirings for the under seats.

Male clip going to car side harness (to bridge the connector)
61136901731 Plastic trim (2 of these, again one for left and one of the left, and this goes to the wires coming from the car)
61138364835 male pin (8 of these, 2 pairs for each of the above part number, as see the photo in my audio thread how you should bridge them).

P.S: Only applicable, if you have LCI car and has connector to the under seats with 4 wires.

Hope that helps.

Well done. You are very quick.
So all good and all working?

Where does FBAS-2 cable connect to base plate?
And where on the CIC?

I'd like to know this as well.

It get censored. If you are referring to BMW C O D I N G, then I know the thread. Started it but never read it full.
I guess I will have to go back and read it in detail.

Thanks a lot!!..

It is a pre-LCI.. I think then I would need the male connectors anyway..

No remote wire for L7, it gets the active signal via MOST.. Yes, the power, which I will go by ur advice and tap into the battery..

Reg: the FBAS cable.. and 6NF,
FBAS connects from the baseplate to the CIC video input sets (white connector in the quadlock)
for 6NF, you would need the media snapin, baseplate with blue connector, and a blue HSD cable to the combox..

I forgot to mention, you could get the conenctor into the housings from farnell..
search for MQS connectors:
http://uk.farnell.com/te-connectivit...ket/dp/1822053

order like 40, they are used for all connectors, AUX, FBAS, Speakers, u name it..

I will post the DIY for the L7 once I get going.. I dint have a camera before!!

Thanks again makkan00!

For 6NR, all you need is to connect an iPhone to the blue HSD connector via USB..
If you get more fancy, then you could get the baseplate and media snapins.. :-)

I tried that this afternoon funnily enough - HSD into blue socket and coded 6NR. The plugin icon now pops up on the screen under external devices and I can play music exactly the same way as I could through USB.

I don't have connected drive on my home screen of the idrive but have the older BMW services. I did have a complete software update earlier this year though. So I'm not sure whether I have the right version of CIC firmware? All I want really out of 6NR is the ability to have the iPhone music in that fancy GUI on the idrive. If possible I would rather have that over the USB rather than pay for expensive cradles.

THAT fancy iphone interface is 6NF.. :-)
You need the eject box and snapin media adapter..
That functionality is the iPod video out via the FBAS cables..

BTW, in the thread you mentioned couple of posts above, see the post made by afsar (page 34 i think), where he uses an iphone AV cable to get the desired functionality without the expensive eject box or snapin..
I did the same, but the cable would not charge your phone..

Add 6NF with 6NR and you should get Connected drive on you CIC..

Deep
You will need female connector clips here going to L7 OEM subs.
So you will be running new wires from the amp to these underseats.

You leave out the old connectors out as you do not want the speakers and underseats connected in parallel.

Ok, after reading all this again and reviewing the benefits of CIC, I am thinking of retrofitting CIC on a car with standard HU.

Just trying to work out what is what.
Here is a photo from the back of a CIC.

Now
Black HSD = Antenna (goes directly to antenna)
Mustard colour = DAB (goes directly to DAB antenna
Green colour = ?additional USB / or additional DAB antenna?
Blue colour = Bluetooth antenna?

Are those LDVS at the right top?
White and pink n colour?

What are they for?

That is a CIC with DAB..

So,
Mustard and Green - DAB (they come from a splitter for DAB)
Blue - GPS antenna
Black - FM Antenna

All the above are FAKRA (means one core, not HSD)

Pink on the right is LVDS - goes to CID (Same structure as HSD)
Grey/yellowish on right is USB to glove box. (HSD - same as USB)

Boy, you are on retrofit fire.. ;-)

Sorry to bump up an old thread but better than starting a new one with the same/similar question...

I am fitting 6FL to the car with CIC and combox already fitted. So far the coding is done and the USB port works perfectly. The Aux in port is not working however and I understand i need to manually amend the TRC file to activate CDMM_AUX_HU again. However the Aux port still doesnt work. Am I missing something?

I am using a switchable USB AUX port but realise i need the non switchable one. At the moment I'm testing it by plugging the USB wire to the new switchable one and left the Aux connector in the old aux port, as the connector is different in the new Aux/USB port. Is this the problem?

Appreciate if someone could shed some light on this. Thanks!
