Getting my I-drive upgrade
I just got an appointment to upgrade my I-drive software as per the SIB.
My I-drive was very slow on start-up and some buttons (voice command, menu) were not accessible until a minute or so. My dealer is upgrading it free of charge tomorrow probably. I'll let you know how good is the latest software

I guess when they upgrade the software they don't give you an updated manual, right ? In this case, does anyone has a copy of the manual for a post-March 2007 E92 ? Thx

I'm also getting the new update that came out a couple of months ago, just dropped off my car a few hours ago. Looking forward to the increased speed and new colors/fonts...
I've had my car since the e90 came out, i've gotten one update that was about a year ago. It fixed a few things, the voice command was near useless because I'd hit the button.... and it would take half a minute before the beep would signal for me to state my command. Hope this even newer version speeds things up even more in other areas. My service advisor claims my car will be ready tomorrow.

I asked the SA if they could please set the computer to allow the windows/sunroof to close and the mirrors to fold via the lock button on the remote. I hope they will.

I'm picking up my car tonight after the software update.
Is there a way to check which version they installed ? V25 or V26 for example

it will either have the SIB # that they refer to or the actual version of the software they installed. If neither, ask the SA.

Thanks. I know when I dropped the car yesterday that the work order mentions SIB 61 03 05 (and also the SB to change the gear shift knob replacement). According to the SB it should be Version 25. I'll see what they write on the paper.

My I-drive has been updated
So I picked up my car yesterday evening. They upgraded the I-drive. They couldn't tell me what software level they installed (V25, V26 ?) but I was able to find the "Target Data Status": E89x-07-03-520. The SIB calls for E89x-07-03-515 or higher so everything's OK.
Now to give you some feedback on the upgrade. I love it 1- The liability screen disappears very quickly (honestly this morning I didn't even notice it popped up). 2- The best thing ever is that on start-up it goes back to the last screen that was displayed when you turned the engine off. It's especially cool for the map. You don't have to go to 2 or 3 sub-menus to display it everytime you turn the engine on. 3- I like the new colors. There was nothing wrong with the brown background with the previous software but I think the silver/gray background is more classy. Also the new colors for the map are nice. 4- As already mentioned in other threads, the new POI search by name is great. 5- I didn't notice any speed differences except on start-up. My previous software was kind of slow after starting the car (some of the buttons such as Menu or Voice command) took about 30 seconds to be operational. Now I don't have this problem anymore. 6- One thing I noticed and (so far) that nobody else mentioned is the small computer display. The one between the speedometer and the tachometer showing time, temperature, and other functions such as mileage, range,.... I don't think it's my imagination but the font of the text is different. The text looks smaller and bold compared to previous software. I keep looking at it and I'm sure it's different (see photo). Actually it's not that obvious on the photo but in real life there is something different. Anyway, I don't regret the upgrade. I'm sure I'll discover more changes after using it for few days. I highly recommend you guys to go to your dealer and ask for the upgrade. Oh and it was free of charge

To be clear on the POI searching. Do you still have to know the category first, or can you now just search the name.
For example, can you just type in "Target"' without have to go to shopping, etc. and then searc on Target?

Unfortunately it looks like you still have to select the category first. Maybe there is a way but I haven't found it yet.

Target store is treaky one when you want to locate its category on BMW Nav. So, I downloaded the store locations and put them in the DVD with other favorite POIs. My 2-year-old boy loves Target. Well of course only the toys section.

Man... I have 5k more miles until mine goes in for the 15k service. I have already called to get the software upgrade, and many of the dealerships around will not allow me to do so.
I guess they dont want to waste their time with everyone and their sister coming in for the software... |

How do you do that?
Quote:
Can you create a top level menu item labeled "All" so that you can search in that "category"? That's what I really want. The other day I was trying to find Toys R Us, I looked in about 5 categories and couldn't find it. I just want to be able to search for something without picking a category. Is that too much to ask?

However, I'm about 60% done. I had problems with reading the french characters for Canadian POI's, but that is now resolved. Reading them as ASCII didn't work as planned, so I had to read them as binary characters. Anyway, I was successful in reproducing an URL file, which is reading the original URL file to my computer workspace (memory) and write a new file exactly same as the original. All I should do is reading multiple URL files onto my memory and write them as just one file. I need to work on sorting them per Lat/Long otherwise NAV wouldn't understand. For the single POI's (traditional editting) is explained below; http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52951
