Well, it's been smooth sailing for a couple of months. Not today.

Does today's sudden slow-down of Bimmerpost have anything to do with AOL finally shutting down dial-up service today? (after 34 years)

^ Tried all that though just the same.
More likely a possible server problem.

The database is a huge pile of toss on the server, containing all posts, user logins, etc. Something is hammering it for everyone, causing requests to time out and that error to display.....

Yesterday I wondered if that could be blocking again and found this site: https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/bimmerpost.com.html. It did confirm I wasn't necessarily being blocked and also reported some popular(?) other sites down. I checked imdb.com and it really didn't respond either. Now it does. So it could be a hosting provider's issue/failure.

Regarding the current intermittent "Database Error" (notice the bimmerpost admins' E-mail provided - it can be the "last resort" for desperately unable to access, although they won't answer ). It can be AI scanning as it has been already mentioned around here. Stupidity knows no mercy. When I worked in an office I once used torrents to download only two porn movies not bothering to limit sharing "intensity" - they were nothing special, I didn't even keep them after watching, but the outbound traffic from my computer turned out so huge it blocked the whole office's network, nobody could use the Internet. Those horny boys!!!

As mentioned by others, this started yesterday and both my mobile app and my computer are still having major issues this morning.

Same here, same time, but intermittently.
Someone is DDOS-hammering the site's dB, or site's load-balancer got screwed up.

It’s been bad for about 24 hrs for me, and the worst (slowest, most database errors) just now. So for me it is not getting better. iPad using up-to-date iOS and apps, accessing via Safari. And yes, I recycled power on the iPad earlier today.
