Hard reset for the 2009 iDrive

I'm trying to find if there is a button combo that will reset the new iDrive on lock ups. Had one today.

In the old one, you held in the volume and the two disc eject buttons.

Any ideas?

I'd be curious to know this as well.

I assume you tried the one eject button and the volume?

You need to hold/press the volume/on/off button for about 25 seconds according to the BMW technical literature. You'll see the BMW splashscreen as it begins rebooting. There is a very good PDF floating around (I think I posted a copy of it as well) that has this info as well as how to access the service menu.

Thanks.

Link to doc is in message #15.

See p.71 for the CIC reset. If you are at all technically inclined (and even if not), this document is a must have for anyone with the 2009 Nav.

Great info, thanks! My nav screen is frozen for whatever reason, I'm hoping a reboot will fix it.
