Remove the bumper, I am sure they are removable since the 335is bumper is the same at the E92 LCI Msport bumper and it doe snot have those. But the 335is does have different ducting so I believe they route air to the secondary radiator, etc.

The front piece attaches to a support piece on the backside which in turn snaps onto the bumper and guides the air towards the extra radiator and oil cooler. You'll gain nothing by removing it and quite possibly make things worse. If you're really set on messing with it you could just cut the center slat out.

As said above, they create a sandwich (front piece, bumper, rear piece) with the bumper. You can remove the front and rear piece, but then you'll be able to see the tabs on the bumper that the other 4 pieces attach to. You could cut tabs off if you really wanted to. I cant remember off the top of my head whether or not these are necessary to support the ducting for the radiator/oil cooler.. but I'm inclined to say that they aren't. If you remove the "fins" and their supports, you'll definitely still want to keep the ducting in place for cooling purposes. A "rig up" should be fine, if you're so inclined.

I actually contemplated the same thing at one point. I'm curious how it would look.

The issue is, to make it look good, it's definitely a permanent mod (cutting the tabs).

I'm just not fan of a grille like that would prefer just a hole but based on the parts seem like they make a tunnel to direct air or something. |

Yes they clip and if you just remove then there will be holes exposed from where the clips go into. Do do it "right" and less expensive is to remove them cut the middle off to be just like a frame, fill it, sand it, paint it, install back.
