E90 335i Service Engine Soon is on

All, looking for some advice Service Engine Soon light is on for my 2009 335i with 95K miles on it. Took it to my independent BMW shop who I have been dealing with for more than 10 years. Normally really good with my cars etc. BMW trained techs etc.
They recommended a walnut blasting de carb as it had deposits which made it run lean. After $1500.00 later service light came back on. Even prior to service, light would come on after a fill up and go off when fuel gauge reads 3/4. It'll come on again at half tank and turn off at 1/4.

I'm just lost...
