Aftermarket tune for 330i

I know the stock 330i tune is a must for anyone installing the 3 stage intake manifold in order to activate the DISA flaps.

I'm wondering if there are any performance tunes for a stock 330i? I'm not really looking for any significant power gains, but was just curious if there are any aftermarket tunes that resolve any inherent issues with the stock 330i tune or improve feel or driveability.

I've seen the AA and BPC stuff, but I'm not changing anything to take advantage of them like headers or MILVs. Does Bimmerlabs offer anything?

There's a no-MAF tune specifically for the 330i on bimmerlabs. you can run it with your existing MAF, or buy a euro IAT. it's probably just as good as whatever AA would give you and it's completely free.

Thank you for jogging my memory, this is what I remember from searching a while back but didn't recall exactly.

I highly recommend 330i no-MAF tune. Very smooth throttle response with linear power along with better gas mileage. I ran 330i no-MAF tune before upgrading to Bimmerlabs MILV tune.

Can you remind me again why the US market N52 got a MAF while the rest of the world didn't?

I see you're in LA... any chance that you have a battery charger sufficient to maintain power while programming? I'd also like to see your car.

Did you leave your original MAF connected? Any need to remove the pins for the airflow and just leave the IAT wires connected?

hassmaschine I tried requesting a password recovery but never got the email, and yes I checked my junk folders. I also signed up for a new account with a different email address but again never got the verification email, and therefore I'm unable to access the site.

Emissions, mostly. You can leave your original MAF connected, but the IAT is way smaller and blocks less of the intake tract.

You don't need a battery charger for flashing. Maybe if you were updating the entire car (which can take hours). But not just for the DME, unless your battery is really old or something. It only takes 10 minutes or so to flash the RSA delete, and under a minute to flash new calibrations after that. Even if you purposely disconnected power in the middle of a flash, it's unlikely to do anything because the boot sector & OBD port is unaffected by flashing.

The registration system needs some updates! I can push out an email manually for now.

I have a battery charger and used it for RSA delete. Tune file loads in 1 minute or less. I ran the original MAF without any wiring change. Later, I installed a euro IAT with no wiring change either. I'm located in Pasadena and work in Mid-Wilshire/Ktown.

Got it, thanks! I won't bother with the charger then, sounds like I'll be OK.

Does this improved airflow after changing MAF to IAT improves performance a lot? Just a bit?

What are the pros and cons (performance/fuel efficiency/reliability) on Mafless and Regular 328i->330i tune?

Shouldn't affect fuel economy, and it should be more reliable (no MAF to get dirty/fail). It's just a little more responsive, maybe a couple more HP, and seems smoother at really low RPM (I can crawl at 2mph in 1st gear no problem).
