The foam type of product has it's place, but as creepy says you want to be sure that it isn't removing the wax from the car.
I have got a gilmour that I use with the hosepipe whenever the car is particularly dirty to lay down a more concentrated mix of Zymol clear before I start washing the car in anger. Whilst it doesn't look as impressive as a snow foam application, if applied to a wet car it does foam reasonably well and seems to help the dirt lift more easily.

Guys,
As long as you are careful then there is no need to worry about using clay. It's a great way of removing all of the unwanted crap on the car and is good prep for the wax. I am about to do a full detail on mine which will include clay, swirl and scratch removal and then Zaino wax (which is around 5 layers of wax) Once I have done it I will do a write up with photos to give you an idea of whats involved.

Actually, in all seriousness, you have a machine mop right? Is it hard to use / do correctly? I do want to do a full detail on my car, just don't know where to start or how to properly!!

I'm definitely going to give mine a good detailing in the better weather. At the moment there aren't just enough dry and bright hours in the day!

On another detailing note you might want to try a glass sealant as well. I've been using Carlack 68, and above about 40mph you don't need to use the windscreen wipers at all as the water just sheds straight of the 'screen.
Viv will testify to it's effectiveness from UK4, and if you look in the following video you can see the water just running straight up the screen. The only down side is a "light" smear behind the wiper as the tiny drops dry.

Tony,
When the weather gets better give me a shout and we could organise a meet and go through some of the detailing stuff. If you want me to show you how to use the machine and then give you a hand then let me know

Thanks for that
If we could get the numbers then I could speak to my friend who runs clean and shiny and see if we could get a morning set up where there would be a few people on hand to show what different machines do and also have products on sale so people can buy on the day

Sure does:
It's www.cleanandshiny.co.uk and the detailing side of it is www.waxology.co.uk John is the guy that runs it and has done a few detailing days for other forums so as long as the numbers were there we could maybe get a meet up and running.

No, it's for hosepipe only.
If you've got a Karcher then you need a Foam Lance: http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index...&productId=103

Cheers Matt.
I think I'm gonna regret this thread, it's looking like it's going to get expensive and messy!

Would it be something like Meguiars Hyper Wash, Meguiars Shampoo Plus, or Menzerna Auto Shampoo that you use with the Gilmour?
