I feel your pain. 2016 my ofhg leak caused my serpentine belt to slip off and got sucked into the crank. Belt bits inside the engine. Expensive fix.

But this is the engine running fine thread. 2019 has been good so far thanx to my boy jeff at SDGarage and Andrew at Supreme power.

Yes, that's what I dread! I've heard too many horror stories.. I replaced the belt/pullies and ofgh immediately because there was squeaking on cold start and a slight leak from the ofgh. The belt was replaced at 90k but I wasn't taking any chances and went ahead and replaced it along with the pullies.

Running great again ( post alternator replacement this time ).

I've been driving my '07 e90 335i 6mt for almost 11 years. It now has 130k miles on it.

Usual suspects: injectors, coils, starter, turbos ( @40k miles under warranty ), plugs, OFH gaskets, water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, battery,... All DIY

Next will be radiator as I see it's leaking at the upper neck finally...

But it is a BMW, my 3rd. First two were 540s/6mt. They too were maintenance heavy!

Reviving this because I'm back in the running great camp...over the past 6 months I've gotten the following knocked out:

- Walnut Blast
- Knock Sensors
- OFHG
- Coolant Flush
- Aluminum replacement OFHG coolant hose flange
- VRSF Charge Pipe
- Cam position sensor o-ring

Running like a dream now...aside from the linear throttle I selected last time I flashed...

134k still runs like a champ, still don't have to top off after oil changes. I'm pretty aggressive with the maintenance though.

Bought mine with 133k miles 8-9 months ago and sitting at about 161k miles now. Runs like a dream other than the transmission needing to be serviced, which will be taken care of tomorrow.

Drive the car at least 400 miles a week to school and have kept up with the maintenance aggressively

It took a while to get all of the bugs worked out.....but my 07' 335i has been problem free for months now...not a single issue

I'm currently running the MHD Stage2+ flash, and I'm looking to add some more power....so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before something else starts acting up

These cars are so much fun........when they are running right

- Replaced turbos since they were smoking.
- More smoke after a while, replaced valve stem seals
- Still smoke, replaced piston rings
- Turned out to be the new turbos, replaced turbos again

New gaskets with every teardown, replaced all injectors and so on.
I would feel bad about summarizing everything, but I easily put more than 15k USD into this car.

But now its running great!

lol,

I probably spent about 5-6k but now the car is running great.

To be honest most owners have been neglecting maintenance, so the next guy who buys it pays the price.

My car is running great after performing the following at 120k miles:

Exhaust cam ledge bearing
Upgraded turbos
O2 sensors
Injectors
Oil pan gasket
Walnut blast

Despite all of the $$$ I just spent, once I drove it, I instantly felt better about driving this paid off car than a newer refrigerator on wheels.

My car was running great. Did a 2000km road trip, not a single CEL, then, the following weekend, I tested out the new MHD MT launch control, and broke my first axle.

My car at 134k miles is running great after replacing my water pump, thermostat and cracked valve cover.

I tried out some newer BMWs but I vastly prefer hydraulic steering and not having a car payment.

Forgot about this thread and that i even posted in it.

Update: now at 217k miles. Engine is running amazing. Trans shifts great. Suspension needs some work in the rear bushing wise. Have all poly bushings up front, need to do it in the rear. Probably will be buying all my single turbo stuff in a month or so

Looks & sounds great! Kinda jealous of your LCI e90. Love the look of them in the rear. Thought a bit of picking one up to be a "twin" to my e92 in a few years haha

It's funny reading back through it now and seeing how you get periods of maintenance followed by times of trouble free driving. Hard to believe that I've had mine for almost 4 years now. I got a new starter, new rear wheel bearings, and new tires in the past 6 months. I'm gonna try and put some miles on it now since I sold the GTI that I was daily driving.

Thanks. These cars require sports car attention. We have parts that aren’t even on most normal cars. Oil coolers, transmission coolers, etc. I’m 8 Years in and I am still amazed at how much aftermarket support this platform gets.

P.S. I keep a much lower maintenance daily driver
