Need feedback on DCI/JB3 after Drag Test

I have a 2007 E90 335i sedan. I have installed the Dual Cone aFe Intake and the JB3 tuner. I am happy with the response that I got from the two of them on the street.

I went to the track this last weekend and ran a 13.9 1/4 Mile, crossing at 102MPH on Map 3 of the JB3. It was pretty hot out and people said that "everyone was running bad that day" who knows though. It was my first time out there so again, who knows...I was pretty happy with those times until i looked into it more and compared it to other times.

It was about 88 degrees outside in Fontana, Ca. maybe a little hotter. I know that did not help. But I am curious why some articles with fully stock cars are running mid 13s. http://www.insideline.com/bmw/3-seri...35i-sedan.html

The JB3 as marketed adds 80hp and 80tq...i think i notice it but i want to make sure that I am doing something correct. I did the install myself and had someone double check my work. I do not have any codes nor does it run differently. It runs very well from my feel.

I would like multiple opinions on this to see if i may have something set wrong or if it purely was the temperature out there slowing us down that bad.

Full time slip specs:
60' - 2.275
330 - 6.009
1/8 - 9.085
MPH - 80.44
1000 - 11.719
1/4 - 13.943
MPH - 101.8

Thanks

Should be doing alot better than that... Stock 335is does better times than you modded. But like you said everyone was running bad, so go back on a cooler day and get back to us! And to know if you did something wrong, just connect the USB to your laptop and JB interface and it'll tell you everything.

One more add...I was running 91 Octane about half tank. And tires are stock RFT in back and Nitto INVO in front. Tire pressure about 36. AutoTransmission, raced in DS not using paddles...with traction control limited for first 2 and then off for 3rd race...all very similar times

It's that track. I have been there before and my best time was an 12.1 @116mph. Then I went to Famoso (with the same mod's) and ran a 11.7 @ 118mph.

So I would try a different track.

Remember it's not about what you run, it's about what you run relative to other cars same track same day. That track is notoriously slow, runs up hill at the end, and during the hot months can have upwards of 3000' DA. Map 3 adds around 60whp on 91 octane and the AFE intake is a little questionable. All in all though, 102mph sounds plausible. There was a similar thread a few months ago with procede and JB3 owners running 103-104 mph on higher maps at the same track.

This is a slow track...but ur 60 foot times are not good so either your reaction times are terrible or your bogging or spinning at the start..what are you launching at? And why do you have Nitto's up front but stock RFTs in back?

FYI i was also there on sat, do u have a grey 335 coupe?

Mine is Gray but it is not the coupe. I have the Nittos on the front for traction since the stock RFTs are horrible but I just havent had the time to change out the back tires yet. I got a nail in one of my front tires which is why I replaced the front two. I will shortly replace the back 2 with the same.

My reaction time wasnt bad it was .492 and I did spin a bit. I launched at about 2k rpm with traction control limited. "DTC"

Launch right when you see the last green light.
.492 isn't great...i think that .200 is around where it should be.. I'm surprised you are racing with DTC. I would deactivate all traction control and launch at 2500...feather it.. Do all that and you will see low 13's with all stock except the tune.

There is only one green light on either side of the tree. Reaction time has nothing to do your E.T., so improving that will not help him run deeper into the thirteens. At an NHRA sactioned track, a perfect pro tree reaction (where all yellows light at once, then the green comes on) would be .400. A perfect Sportsman light (where the yellows light independently going down to the green) is .500. 102 mph traps does seem low for a tuned 335i. The best thing to do is compare to other similarly modded 335i's running out there. If you can't do that, then try to get a feel for what some other cars are running. Pay more attention to trap speed than E.T. If stock, base C6 Corvettes are only running 110 mph traps (about 5-7mph slow from sea-level tracks with moderate climate), for example, then it's safe to assume the track is "slow." I would have also tried switching to a stock map for a single run to see what difference that made for you.

3000 DA... psssst

We just ran Sunday at Bandimere with DA's ranging from 8300 to 9200 from first run to last

I hate Denver altitude, I'd love to run down a track with 3000 DA.

Im talking about the lights after you stage..One light,..two light..then green for go..im telling him to launch on the second to last light..so actually i mis-wrote. This is a Sportsman style..

Its a slow track, usually has a headwind, and runs uphill! Last time I went there the 425hp Charger SRT-8 was trapping at 98mph.

I did the launch with out traction control and spun the tires for the first bit...similar timing in the end but faster speed...again a lot has to do with that it was my first time there and officially legally dragging...it should get better in time

if you had traction in 1st and 2nd gear, in low DA and low temps on the right track, you're looking at a 110-111 trap on a JB3 Map 3 car. Considering the pisspoor conditions, you didn't do too badly. Go to a different track, get some race gas and run map 8. Bet you'll get it up into the 114 mph range in cooler temps and proper traction.
