My setup is the gladen 201extreme kit with Orion subs in the boot and all powered by a JL amp. I've used the mosconi quad lock to provide the high input signal. I haven't coded mine from whatever it was previously (I believe it's coded to base) and Phil heard it yesterday and as with his it sounds really good tbh. Everyone is different so some may find the coding to hifi better and others just leaving it is is just as good.
Again would be good to get a like for like representation by maybe getting mine coded to test.

Good info there Raj.
I am hoping that my install will be like yours where i won't require any coding. Hopefully I should be satisfied with this as I'm not an audiophile. But on the other hand I have found a 5 channel amp, the alpine v500. The spec is good and quite well priced at £200. I'm thinking of getting this as then I can power the rears too of this amp. Any thoughts? |

I've left the rears powered off the headunit as standard for life rear fill and that's all. As for audiophile, well I'd say I like balanced sound and decent staging and tbh mine is such. I had my mate (hes's a pro installer etc and has done all my previous installs - as well as having his installs featured back in the day) have a listen and tbh he was impressed with it as is. Yes he did feel the Gladens were ok but felt after all the higher end installs previously I could have gone better but that's a budget thing more than anything else.

Also the delay when switching on will remain even if you go aftermarket (non alpine) like I have. I still get the small delay in switch on and I have used the direct remote from the back of the headunit.

Or the option, is there any other 12v source that you could use which gets power when you unlock the vehicle? |

I could have used a different source like the 12v socket in the boot but tbh I prefer to use the stereo as that is the correct source really.

It's literally an un-noticeable delay, complete non-issue IMO.
And as said any amp that detects a signal to wake would be the same. I wouldn't want an amp that is always on when the car is on, will just be draining the battery. |
