Rick, good reading about the start of a great nation, and all the people whom came along and became a fiber of the country.

spuntyb,

My pleasure--I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I'm currently planning my next adventure--to New Jersey of all places--but it will require better weather than we're having lately. Stay tuned!

2015435i550i,

Bringing back fond memories is right up there with generating new ones. I'm glad to have helped prompt some of the former for you, while creating some of the latter for myself!

Just the thought of reading two of my reports back to back makes me sleepy…

krnnerdboy,

I know exactly what you mean. My wife always teases me because my favorite house would be a rustic log cabin on the outside with modern facilities on the inside, including a computer room, HD television, big garage, AC, etc.

It's good to have dreams (and even better to act on them from time to time).

mpbruin108,

It really was a fun trip. As usual, I missed a number of places that I learned about later, so now I have to go back!

I haven't watched American Pickers, but every time I drive by the Cape Cod Pickers store in Falmouth, MA, I'm tempted to go in and see what neat stuff they've found. I refrain only because we already have a house full of junk--uh, I mean fascinating and arguably priceless old artifacts. (Highly arguably…)

BTW, I have yet to see an i8 on the road anywhere, but I can't wait. How do you like yours so far?

Bosozoku,

Thanks much! I almost always have to accept whatever lighting there is at a given place on a given day, given how many miles and sites I try to get through on these trips. Fortunately, you can almost always get a usable photo, and sometimes odd lighting conditions end up producing a "real keeper"!

The i8 is quite fun. Not practical for long distance with electric only but I make due. It really does feel futuristic but I tend to drive the M4 more just because it's a tad quicker and I don't mind driving more crazy with it. With the i8, it feels more gentleman like so I drive more subdued. Plus, since it is so new, I get too many stares everywhere so I am a little more cautious where I drive. But nonetheless, great cars.

Yeah, but the car I really want to know about is that Hyundai. How does it ride?

haha. Are you a hyundai fan like me? I've had hyundais since 2011. Probably one of the best looking beater cars out there for me to throw crap in and not worry about scuffs and marks while getting decent gas milage for great value. No worries car because parts are easy to come by. =) Everyone needs at least one car like that. For me, it's the Huyndai...and it drives like a dream. =)

I was being a bit tongue in cheek, but I actually like some Hyundais. I think I prefer the styling of Kia vehicles more, though.

Tallest,

You're not kidding about the True Detective aspect! I've just spent an hour trying to find the location of the notorious outlaw Joe Mulliner's grave in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. I could narrow it down to about a half mile of dense roadside shrubbery, but I couldn't pinpoint where it is. I had to resort to asking someone who's been there… Hopefully I'll hear back.

Eli,

You're quite welcome! It's fascinating to me how many different people have walked across any given part of the U.S. over the years, making their own contributions to the success of the country. Every place has at least one really good story, and most have several!
