I did everything as it was written. Don't remember if I did some kind of reset, though.
I don't know if the v4 is the same as the v5. But I had the same problem when I updated to new firmware and maps after installing my Rbs. I totally forgot all the resets that I had to do that was in the read me file. My car through missfires on all cylinders. So reloaded firmware did all the resets and reloaded map and car ran good. Again not saying this is the problem because I don't know how v4 is but just throwing out an idea.

+1 same thing when I went from v4 to v5. Make sure to do all the resets.

Thanks for the info, guys!
Strangely there isn't any readme file in the maps' folder that I downloaded. That is why I haven't done any resetting.

You ALWAYS have to follow the same steps when running a new map. They probably forgot to add the reset steps to the upped turbo map folder because so few people were running upped turbos at the time the V4 files were popular and everyone who did knew the steps inside and out. Which brings me to the question: Why the heck aren't you running V5 maps?

Yeah that is true. The hardware is the same right? Upgrade to the rev 2.5 so u can run the aggressive maps.

I dont recall too many V4 maps having read me files, most of them were posted here back in the day with instructions. It's been so long.

OP you might want to look into a rev 2.5 upgrade, it has many benefits including extra fueling capacity and better tuning.

+1 rev2 had enough problems fueling stock turbo cars, I'd imagine it to be worse on RBs.

Why would you need to? A good number of us push 20+ psi With very aggressive timing through the RBs with no issues on the stock plugs, myself included.

The point is like I said before, if plugs coils injectors or vanos don't fix it, not much you can do, short of running cobb with no misfire detection. Maybe a valve cleaning but I doubt it.

Yeah I deff agree. I am on stock plugs pushing 17-17.5 and no issues at all. I doubt his problem is plug related.

Yesterday was a good day.

I went to a friend of mine and first of all we did the harness upgrade (so that I could run V5 maps):

Then we swapped cylinder 5, 6 spark plugs and coils with the ones of cylinder 1, 2:

The plugs were in great condition:

Then I uploaded new firmware and Rev.2a V5 7-29 Upgraded Turbo MT maps (followed all the instructions in the readme file) and went for a spin. I did 7-8 WOTs and the misfires were gone! I wanted to do some more testing and data logging, but the roads were damp and it was really scary I even managed to spin the tyres @ 140 km/h (~87 mph) Vishnu autotuned from initial 15 to 17 PSI in just 3-4 runs, so I believe 17 PSI on pump gas is not the limit
I'm not sure if it wasn't a placebo effect (didn't have my Pbox with me), but the car pulled significantly harder. I'm starting to love my RBs!

It is a bit too early to make conclusions, but most likely the misfires were not hardware related. Most likely it was either V4 fimrware/maps fault or incorrect firmware and map uploading procedure which was a result of absence of readme file.

Yeah, I do want to upgrade.
I live overseas and a friend of mine is comming to the US for a few days. I asked Vishnu if they can ship the Rev.2.5 unit to the hotel in time yesterday morning and I am still waiting for an answer...

Bad news, guys... Misfires are back.

I went for some Pbox testing today and I got limp mode on my second run. Lots of limp modes later. Same story - limp mode occures ~50% of all runs when I go over 6.2k rmp when doing WOTs.

WTF? Same cylinders even though I swapped the spark plugs and coils... I once even got misfire in cylinder 4.

What could be the reasons of misfiring?
Did a lot of logs, but don't know what to look for.

The car runs stronger than ever, it autotunes to 18 PSI on pump gas! I got some nice 100-200 kmh times. But those f*cking misfires... I start hating my car as I had so many problems with it...

Last time I ran autotuning maps, long time ago, aggression target was too aggressive for some cars (including mine) so I had to turn it down to 1. Give that a try.
Also, have you tried disabling autotuning and just setting a decent boost setting?

Yes, I turned autotuning off and set initial boost @ 16 PSI, which is quite conservative for RB turbos. Still went into limp mode.

It is strange as I didn't have any problems @ 16 PSI with stock turbos.

Dzeno had misfires when he got the RBs and that's what I found googling:

Quote:

UPDATE: Misfires that were occurring are still present. They are NOT tune related and are still under investigation...

July 7, 2011

UPDATE: Misfires FIXED! I replaced the TMAP, both intake/exhaust CAMSHAFT as well as the CRANKSHAFT (CPS) sensor and the car is back in the game.
