Putting an M badge on a non-M car is like putting fake sports grills from Pep Boys on the side of your car. It does nothing, but make you look silly to true enthusiasts.

But if you like it then who cares right. To each their own.

If you put an M badge on a non-M car, then anyone who falls into the first category will know that your car is not an M car, and anybody who falls into the second category will not know what an M car is and therefore will not know or care whether your car is one or not. Therefore, putting an M badge on a non-M car will impress neither category of people (who together make up all of the people on the road), which begs the question... what is the point?
THIS. I don't understand why these posers can't grasp this simple concept. It's a lose-lose.

Talking

Everyone calm down!

I have to argue that in defense of the OP I think BMW has cashed in on the M rage the last few years since many 35i/40i/50i vehicles COME with M badges even though none of these cars are full M model cars but just either tuned to perform slightly better than their counterparts and/or trimmed out with M styling and paints.

SEE EVERY Msport vs M thread ever for reference!

So someone who is young, like 16 - 19 years old, and fairly new to BMWs will see BMW putting Ms on many non M vehicles and think it is okay to do the same thing to their cars!

No it is not okay! I don't condone it....but I understand!

You're like 560+ posts in and you're acting like a training day 1 recruit.

What do you think the correct answer to this is?

Unless your car is a M235 or M240, keep the badge off.

Ok ok, I won't put the M badge on.

Now this is even too much for me:

Even has Alpina on the license plate.

Just debage it for a more cleaner look. That's what I did in my 335.

Do you put bundled up socks or cucumbers down the front of your pants too? Basically the same same thing.

No it wouldn't be cool ... not quite a loser ... but pretty darn sad and a bit ghetto. But definitely closer to the first statement though.

All in all ... don't do it.

Thank you... your Chris Rock photo explains what I was trying to say with my earlier posts... No I don't approve of putting M badges on non-M BMW's. But like you say there are kids out there who think it's cool, and I GET IT. I get why someone might think it's the next best thing since sliced bread-- why pay for the M car when you can just pay for the badge?-- or at least that's what some of the posers must think.

All jokes aside please dont do this. If you want an M car buy an M. The M stripes are fine but throwing a M badge on a non-M car will make BMW fans think you are just plain stupid.

1. If a person doesn't know what an M car looks like or what it even means, then there is no point - they won't care - period.

2. If a person knows what an M car looks like and what it means, then you will get not only NEGATIVE respect, but also contempt and hatred. Now if that is what you want, then by all means, slap an M logo on your 335i.

By your logic, why don't you slap a Lamborghini or Ferrari logo on it too? Just pry off the BMW logos and the 335i badges and replace them with the logo you want.

Do you see where this is going?

On a totally unrelated note, I'm thinking about putting an RS badge on my 335. What do you all think?

For sure. Just find something awesome like a first gen M3/M5, rip that badge off and stick it on yours.

If you're going to disrespect the brand, go all the way.
