BMW 335 vs tlx a spec

So lately I've been debating on privately selling my e90 335i. Title in hand all maintenance to date, index 12s etc, upgraded turbos, suspension, the works you know.car does have 102k but does not feel like it has that many miles. Friend works at Acura and gave me a 2018 Acura tlx a spec fwd for a few days to try out and see if I want one. I've always liked them when they first got released. Fully loaded, black exterior, red interior, blind spot and all the other fancy items. 1200 miles on odometer so practically brand new, but other than being smooth, luxurious, kinda cool looking car doesn't really do much other than drive smoothly. Is it just me or does going from a 600hp BMW to a 300hp Acura or any other car within that hp range drive boring? Like I get excited when I pass people in the BMW, with this it takes time and more effort and feels unsafe since it takes time. What do you think?

I'm confused. You mean TLX? I don't believe that the make the TSX anymore, nor have they for quite some time.

If discussing the TLX, um yeah, I mean it's just a V6 Honda Accord. It will never come close to a BMW 335, not really even come close to a stock one, let alone yours.

Acura doesn't really make sense to me - as their products aren't anything special. The TLX is no more upper class than a loaded Accord EX-L. At least with Lexus, you can tell the sound deadening, leather quality, etc is notably nicer than the Toyota counterpart.

different class of cars...Acura customer service is horrible for a luxury car brand. You get better service at a honda dealer. But if your going to change to a acura...i would wait until the redesigned when they use the 1.5 turbo and 2.0t turbo engines. The new honda turbos get better mpg and are more torquey then honda corporate v6.

i would say check out the new infiniti q50 and q60 with the twin turbo v6. They come in rwd or awd. Its basically a more reliable 335i with closer driving dynamics to a BMW compared to the Acura. Also infiniti offers substantial discounts during end of the yr...ie up to 22% off msrp and aggressive lease rates.

At the end of the day it's still an Acura . . .
In retrospect, compare an 11 year old Acura to a 2018 BMW 335. The aura and continued driving experience, reliabilty aside.

Paid for vs car note.
A 335i will require some maintenance but nothing compared to the cost of a new car.

Pass.

Yes tlx my apologies. As one mentioned compare them vise versa. Take a 11yr old tlx and compare it to a new 335 and see what you get. And finally this is my only car I've owned that has been paid off (had winter beaters etc) and let me tell you, having a extra 300 bucks left over helps especially with a kid on the way(no kid isn't the reason I was thinking about selling bmw)

Buy the Acura as your DD and keep the 335 as the toy.

I have a 2005 civic as a daily. Nothing wrong with it other then it being a civic. Problem is I work 25 miles away so I do about 50 miles a day. So buying something for 40k and losing that much value on it over 2yr period would be a bad financial mistake

Actually the Q50 Red Sports engines arent anywhere close to being as reliable as BMW engines. There have been cases where people blown their engines on Jb4 by itself. Apparently the engine isn't meant to handle any more boost over stock as the stock boost levels are already pretty high.

thats incorrect...there bunch of people running 420whp 500wtq on fbo without issues. There guys running 500whp on a e85 mix. Only cases where i heard of engine blowing was from bad tunes or guys treating their car like a rental car because its a lease. only issue they really have were sepertine belts coming off due to a bad pulley design on early q50 3.0tt models. The block is loosely based on the vr38 motor from the gtr, with the heads being different since its DI.

I can't tell if serious?

TLX is a FWD based honda accord for the most part with an average V6..

Your car is a 600hp RWD BMW with multiple upgraded suspension components, etc.

Of course there's a huge driving difference.

not a fair comparison , your car is fully modded , go drive a stock 335 vs a tlx and the difference wont be much. Or go drive fully build tlx and compare to yours. Apple to oranges comparison

I also do not understand the part where you said that you feel unsafe passing car car in the TLX , so you either don't know how to drive or you just joking here...

I have no issues passing car with the 180 hp company van , nor do I ever feel unsafe driving it.
I ll probably feel more unsafe in a 600 HP car on the streets

If you want just 500 hp 4 door sedan that would not break your wallet , then get a charger scatpack. If you just want something that you can modify for cheap to get a lot of power , get a audi S4 , 335 , gold r , S3 ...

Safe part is fine, I was just joking with it. Its just that getting on the highway with a 300hp car vs 600 is alot harder and takes more effort hehe. But I pretty much decided that il keep the BMW as a fun car and pick up a leased car for around town driving.

same price as a New TLX, you can probably get yourself into a CPO f80 m3/m4 as well. For 45kish that car is a beast of a car, but you do lose the e90/e92 steering feel, if you care about that.

That is probably the best decision. You spent a lot of money on your car , you know the history of the car, the condition . It does not make sense to get rid of it. You are not going to get a 600 hp stock . Also a 600hp is not really a friendly car to drive around all the time , its a waste of mileage.

Just get a nice lease car, 200-300 hp more than enough for around town and some fun .

If you want something more fun , a wrx is a nice choice , golf gti is pretty quick too .
