can chiller in arm rest

Hi all sorry im being a bit lazy but how does the can chiller actually work? is it only when the A/C is on?

It works when the A/C is on, and the temperature and air flow are both controlled by the adjustment knobs on the rear console for the rear air vents. There's also an air-flow override switch in the armrest - the little sliding black switch enables or disables air-flow...

.....and its now been removed on LCi models

(along with the ipod storage wallet under the armrest that used to come with the 6FL option )

(oh and the storage nets on the back of the front seats )

(.....and the torch in the glovebox )

pretty useless feature if you ask me. I wish they would just put a real cup holder before the armrest (where the i-drive knob goes) for those without i-drive.

Why? so you could knock hot coffee eveywhere whenever you change gear?

Nope, they removed the socket a while ago and gave a small LED pen type torch instead but now removed this as well

I pinched the torch out of my 'vert hoping the socket would be there - anyone wanna buy a torch?

the can chiller is very useful I have it on the 535d and its great having a nice cooled red bull on those long journeys.

The USB socket for the HDD nav systems is mounted in place of the old torch charging socket.

Dito here, I always keep a can of Red Bull in their ready cooled when needed. I also use the 12v socket in the glove box. I wouldn't have been happy to trade in for a newer car and it not have these things.
