I hope no one was locked inside......happened to a guy I know with an E93 and his family was stuck inside the car for hours. Was a good thing the top was down so they could get fresh air.....

ok the car is in for service again. this is the 4th time the doors have malfunctioned. This time i was trapped in the car, it woldn't open from the inside, not even manually. Its getting ridicoulous, i complained to BMW NA, and i'm seriously thinking of getting the car lemoned this is just too much.

nope, i was inside the car and it would not open from the drivers side. i was lucky that the rear doors were unlocked so i could escape.

THANK YOU HR and also SoCalTech. I had this happen today. The only way to open the driver door was with the physical key inside the key fob, and no other doors would open. That is a serious safety issue when people in the back seats cannot open their doors. For some reason, pulling on the handles would not unlock and open the doors. I thought that was mechanical, but apparently the handle unlocks the door electronically. If the fuse is blown, nobody can open his door from the inside.

So, it was Fuse 57, and thank you so much for telling me where the fuses were, that there were spare fuses, and even that there was a fuse puller tucked in the middle of the board. I was able to resolve it promptly, thanks to you guys, even though my call to BMW Roadside Assistance produced only an instruction to take my car to the dealer. I'm gonna write those folks a letter. They should have written instructions, if only to say "check these four fuses behind the glove box."

I suspect that the fuse blew because my wife was pulling on her inside door handle at the same time I was trying to unlock the doors with the remote.

ETA: The letter to BMW Roadside Assistance went out Monday.

My car also had this problem . They replaced one fuse and the right front door lock. I payed 180 Euro.

This just happened to me this evening when I got home. Nothing happened when i pressed the door lock button on the dash but I was able to still open the doors from the inside using the door latch. While being outside, my remote key wouldn't lock the doors, so I had to take the metal key out of the remote to lock it manually.

This also happened to my sister's 07 328i also. Its a common problem according to the dealership for 2007's.

Just scheduled a appt online for east bay bmw, and the next available appt isn't until a week later, really sucks.

I have the same problem -- actually this is a serious safety issue

I was pretty shocked when I discovered yesterday that none of the passenger doors in my car could be opened or unlocked, even from the inside using the interior door handle! I was even more surprised to discover on this threat that so many other people have had the same problem. What if this had happened when I had an elderly passenger in the back seat? It could be literally impossible to get them out of the car! What about if there was an emergency? What really surprises me is that BMW would even design a car where this is possible. The remote key fob and dashboard locking button doesn't work -- to open the car I had to use the physical key located in the fob which only works on the driver side. I have a dealer appointment but I also plan to report it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This should be a recall item. All of you folks who have been inconvenienced and/or endangered by this obviously widespread problem should get some relief.

there are other ways to get out if the doors dont work....

doors want unlock

On my 2008 328i I had to replace fuse 73 which was a 15 amp. I put in a 20 amp and it is working fine. We will see how long that last. If it blows the 20 amp then it will be time to replace whatever door actuator is bad.

So, in Florida, its possible to be stuck in hot car in the sun. To me this is foreseeably a very dangerous event, especially if it is happening in so many cars. Since BMW has not fixed the issue in the E90, I would guess they have set aside money to pay for the lawsuits and indemnity, just like Ford and Firestone set aside money to pay for deaths caused by tires that failed, rather than fixing the problem itself.

i no longer have the car that had this problem, but i know it kept on happening after i sold it... they must have changed like 10 door latches until they figured out what the problem was, one of the SA told me they found a bad relay cable somewhere in the central locking system that was overloading everything causing the latches to draw more amps and blow fuses.

Hello Everyone
I hope you guys can help me on this enigma

I am the owner of a 2009 335i xdrive

Now i am having problem every morning on unlocking the car with the FOB

nothing works, the lights blinks 3 times but the doors dont unlock, even when i open the drivers door with the metallic key, i cannot unlock it after .....
This is valid for the first hour when i first start the car after a the car being sitting in my garage.

When i get to work, i cannot lock the car with the fob so i manually lock the car, and i leave it on the parking lot for one hour, and after that first hour when i come back, the car unlocks and locks normally for the rest of the day.

Weird enough , when in the morning the unlock doesnt work and i have to unlock the car with the key, the passenger window doesnt work either for the first hour, it doesnt work with the passenger side button, but from the driver side button i can open the passenger window.

I have checked fuse number 57 as mentionned in this forum several times, the fuse is not blown and it was a 15 amp fuse.
I have replaced it with a 20amp fuse and still the same problem persists.

For the first hour that the unlock/lock doesnt work, the central lock button of the dash also doesnt lock the doors, and the doors dont lock also automatically when i drive off , like they usually do.


So the question is what is changinf after the first hour ? how come suddenly it work afterwards when the car is just sitting on the parking lot ?

I have 2 FOBs , i have tried both of them and same problem.

Please help me resolve this problem

All, I had the same issue with the passenger door (07 335i)...other symptoms included some function resets on the computer (auto turn signal and nav reset) and the gas cap would not open. Additionally, had to open the car with the emergency key, passenger door didn't open and couldn't lock/unlock using the auto lock button on the dash.

There may be more issues but I followed the advice here and opened the back panel on the glove box, took out the fuze Rosetta Stone guide...Key Point: the car door symbol with the key has four fuses associated with it...I worked my way back from #57 and the second fuze I tried (a 15 amp) #56 was cooked. The top of the panel has some replacements (which I fitted right in) and viola! It worked. A couple gentlemen did post that if it continues to happen (this was the first time for me - owned for 3 years), replace the 15 amp with a 20 amp. Just have to remember to replace the fuse I used and buy an extra 20 amper...and, just as one post noted, you'll have to work to contort your arm to access the fuses without the passenger side door access.

I wonder if this issue could have something to do with the car's battery starting to go? According to many experts, as our batteries go, weird electrical things start happening with our cars.

My door locks stopped working today. Fuse #57 blown. Replaced fuse #57 and door locks work again!
