330d/ 335d DIY

Sold my 335i at the end of last year. Missing it like crazy. Now doing more miles and looking at purchasing either a 330d or a 335d.

Been searching but not found answers - Especially for the 335d, are the turbo's able to be replaced without dropping subframe / removing engine? I remember on the 335i it was extremely difficult. The turbo's on the M57 look quite accessible from what I can see?

I have a bit of mechanical experience, removed engines / turbo's before - and wouldn't like to put myself in a situation where I was relying on a garage to replace stuff. However, I would rather not go down the route of removing engines or dropping subrfames!

Can you get away with replacing most major components on 330d/335d from the engine bay?

Thanks

No engine removal to replace turbos. Most maintenance can be performed without removing the motor or dropping subframe. Only thing I can come up with involving the subframe may be the oil pan r&r.

No subframe removal for that either. Passenger engine mount removal is necessary for the DPF removal.

And once you replace DPF with downpipe, the downpipe comes off and goes back on without touching the engine mount and related bracket.
