Manually controlled heated seats also need both the new under-seat and backrest wiring. If your seat came from the factory without lumbar support then you have to replace the wiring in all instances, since it is missing the right connectors.

Any programming needed?
The seats on my E90 320d are non-sport, mechanical adjustment, heated.
Do you think that any programming will be needed after performing the installation as described above? |

No, no programming required. For lumbar support all you need is ground and "+" wire. You have it from the heating.

I've just purchased a 320D M Sport (2008 LCI)and its got a problem with the seat. The backrest side supports keep pumping up on it's own, I have to move the seat around (forward back / up down) and find a position when you can hear the pump stop.
It sounds like I wiring fault, but I dont have access to any wiring diagrams on this unit so dont know where to start. I was hoping as a short term solution I would be able to unplug the switch or the electrical connection to the pump unit I get a time to look at the wiring properly. Would really appreciate any suggestions on how to diagnose this or get access to a wiring diagram so I can investigate. |

Do you mean, that in my case I will surely need to tap the power of the heating? Is there any chance of overloading the fuse for heating when using both functions?

So, the chance that you will use seat heating and pump for lumbar support simultaneously is very low Anyways, the risk is that you will burn the fuse for 20 cents .... |

Greetings. Good thread here!!
I have an e90 pre LCI with heated power seats including lumbar. Seats are non sport. I just purchased a pair of pre LCI e90 Sport seats with power and lumbar as well as power side bolsters. I'm thinking I will be losing the heat but wondering if I can use the wiring from the heat to power the side bolsters? I believe its a simple 2-way switch...should need positive and ground to run that bolster switch. Any help or advice/thoughts very much appreciated! |

Still help needed
Hi, finally I install the lumbar support and the wire harness on the seat. My seats are heated seats but my original seats werent sport, it was normal seats without side bolsters. So now I have already installed the seats, the heated systems is working but the side bolster and the lumbar support is not opperating I assume is bcz there is no power supply in the plug underneath the seats, (only to feed the heated system). I have to checked the wiring diagrams in the planet-BMW to wire my seat plug, but the wiring diagrams are not in the page of planet bmw. So I will appreciate if anyone can clarify this questions.
Which are the numbers of the pins for the side bolsters and the lumbar support? Does they share the same fuse with the heated-seats system? In case I think I can get the power in the same wire that gives power to the heated system, right? If not I think that better than plugging in the lighter I should get the power from the fuse box, in case of that, which is the number of the fuse for lumbar support and side bolsters. My car is a E87, but I think that the diagrams are the same. REgards I |
