The question thread says simply "not yet."

Sounds like they're working on it though, according to a tech.

Been tagging along and DANG! I am gonna have to get this once released for the N55 XI. I just got the Procede a month ago for my N55. Grrr! ha This will save tons of work for me because I dread that last sensor plug. It's a real pain in the butt. This will be like cake! Woot Woot! Im excited! Eager to see other people's power gains with this and N55 when released though.

The piggy wars are over!

JB4 wont ever see the sales JB3 did but they will have lots of "hold out members". Very strong headed crowd

Procede v5 has sold well and I think (pure speculation) they are headed the flash route with this vin lock thing.

Go back couple of pages, I posted a comparison of Cobb Stage 1 with Dinan S2 dynos
You can't comapre peak numbers! That really means nothing unless they are from the same dyno. You have to look at the over delta in power from stock to tuned.

Before any speculation occurs, people need start driving on the cobb. I dont doubt it will be smooth but like anything else on this car first time out is a little rocky. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Stage 1 ok for a portion of people, but its only good for a stock car.

Stage 2 is "on the way"

To get the big HP people/heavily modded to switch we need atleast ATR and the ability to share maps before any speculation about whos switching what tune if at all.

After all cobb is one map right? So i'm stuck running X amount of boost and if anything in my setup changes I got to start flashing back to other stages/maps.

I dont know if that is for everyone or atleast for me. I switch back from N/A mode, to a low boost 13 PSI map No meth. To 17 or 18 PSI meth or race map from time to time. Just speaking out loud here.

I think some people are speaking down to piggybacks like they are last years turkey, but they have some solid features that we take for granted.

If you buy one unit and decide to sell it can it be used in another car?

If it works like other cobb ap's then yes you can. And from what I've read they work the same for the 335's. If you unmarry (go back to stock) the Ap from the car, you can sell it and it works on another car.

For custom applications with more mods, dyno tuning can be done. I this ap is like other cars, sinificant gains will be realized by a protune, regardless of the mods on the car.

No I haven't bought it. They don't support euro-cars yet and I also have a 2007 model so I guess I'll be last in line. Hopefully they'll be set when the snow disappears. As soon as they support my car, I'll order it.

Protune is another $400-$500 on top of the $900 cost of the Cobb unit, Now im not about to count my dollars cents on mods, but why go through the hassle when there are tunes out there that autotune right to where you would end up being going through all that hassle?

Also remember, that the car has to be re - protuned any time mods are changed or added/subtracted as a flash is unable to self adapt. Correct me If I am wrong...

That is correct, and you dont readily have the ability to switch maps to low boost or high boost maps, or race gas maps, or meth maps, ON THE FLY.

So any change in driving, for instance low boost daily driving, or track day race gas will require a change in the whole map.

Not hating, I know Cobb is good, but its going to be for someone who is happy with just upping the boost and that is that.

If your like me who varies modifications from time to time, changes boost from time to time. runs meth or race gas from time to time, you will be flashing different maps with your head chopped of.

Cobb does what it does well, but it wont be for everyone.

I went from No boost, to low boost, to 18 psi yesterday all in about 5 minutes worth of driving. Different strokes for different folks.

Cobb has launch control and instant map switching for other platforms. For example they have instant map switching using the steering wheel on the a GTR. Lets hold up on what they can our can't do, until they have a chance to develop the product.

I've been flashing Bosch/Siemens engine control systems for several years, with at least 1,000 flashes done as a hobbyist/enthusiast. I've had trouble completing a flash perhaps three times, but I have been able to recover them without much trouble each time. I am new to the MSD8x boxes, but I don't imagine there has been a tremendous shift that would make flash and flash recovery all that difficult. In any case, if the concern is constant power during flashes, it't a pretty simple thing to connect a secondary power source to the car. (Think in terms of an outboard trickle charger or a simple jumper box.)

+1

and I never said that bricking the DME couldn't be done. But saying that it is easily done is overstating it a bit. Having a purpose built unit like the AP, would also mitigate that risk.

There is no one solution that will meet everyones' needs. Each person has an objective when modifying their car and knows what is important to them. One person's needs may be very different than another person's. If everyone respects each others priorities there is little left to argue about. We encourage each person to evaluate the options available and choose the solution that best meets your unique needs and goals.

Thanks,

Gary

Well it is a bit misleading when you post the following:

"you cant......(fill in the blank)..........with flash."

When Cobb has in fact has implemented some of those very features on other platforms using flash.
