CIC Navi activation code - Which maps do I have?
Hi, I bought a used car so not sure which maps are on. How do I check the maps? I have a ton of tools but which do I use?
The navigation asks for activation code straight away, so I can't see the version. |

It sounds like your system is the older CIC due to the small screen. It may need a firmware update (search for that here and iLevel).
The head may have been transplanted from another car and navigation never properly enabled which may be why you are getting the FSV request at boot. There are threads here about generating the FSC codes for transplanted head units here. Also check this thread last post. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1700430 |

Thanks guys for your replies. But that would have been too ease, just to reboot the CIC.
Interesting point with the swapped unit. I checked the VIN and its a business unit. So all good here. The main reason for asking to check the maps was to generate a FSC code. But you have to specify the correct installed map in the FSC generator to get the correct code. right? I dug deeper and used TOOL32 on CIC to get the MAP status through status_mapmaterial_version which is Europe Motion 2014-1. I used the SWID_Reader to get my FSC File which I then used on the (older?) FSC generator by aknight720 which works with the FSC file and not the 1B file. That generated my Europ 2014-1 code. It works now, but of course its all blue water as I am in NZ with a Europe map. My main question now is, can I just try to update to NZ 2020 Move or Motion Map? Do I have to use a Motion map as the previous one is motion? Would be good to know upfront as I have to purchase one for $50, as there are absolutely no downloads. |

I'm assuming the FSC generator by aknight720 will also generate the correct FSC code for NZ 2020 maps. Last edited by bcoz; 11-01-2020 at 05:29 AM.. |

Thank you for your help!
Unfortunately the FSC generator by aknight720 only has maps until 2015 so I am out of luck here. Could not find another updated version. Still not sure why I can't generate the 1B file on my C1A firmware version now that I have activated. |

E.g. you cannot install Motion maps on a Premium CIC and vice versa. Likewise the 1B script is for CIC premium not Motion. You may be able to get a new FSC code via an ecom cable or via an online vendor, for a newer map. I would do the latter in your shoes. |

But what you are saying is that my CIC business with the motion map will never ever generate the 1B file a its only for the Premium version? |
