BMW E90 + Bilsten B4 + Eiback Pro Kit (Feels bouncy and weird at first, and then...)
Hi guys i've installed Bilsteins B4 sport and Eiback Pro Kit on my machine around 2 weeks ago to replace old bouncy shocks and springs.
I was utterly disappointed cause the ride was soft, imprecise and bouncy. I just drove an E92 a few months back and the ride felt super composed, stiff, precise and solid. Now it's 2 weeks later, I have to report that the ride is AMAZING! No bounciness, no saggy loose feeling. Stable, planted, firm, flat in corners and just plain amazing. It feels the same if not better than the E92. Is it normal that the shocks + springs take sometime to work at their optimum capacity and stiffen up ? Why is that so ? By the way to the people complaining about the Eibachs being not low enough, the height of the vehicle is now lowered a bit, and it looks really nice. I've only heard about springs needing a few weeks to settle into its normal height, but not entire shocks and spring systems. Who knows why you're experiencing this but you seem happy so thats all that really matters.

I went from having Birds B3 suspension similar to the B12 kit but different spring rates and revalved shocks for around 3 years but I got sick of the stiffness on our brumby roads great on nice smooth roads so I bought Bilstein B4 sport and reinstalled my M-Sport springs again and yes it felt softer and bouncier for a little bit but it has stiffen up nicely and a comfortable ride without being over stiff and handles better than the original M-sport suspension.
Yes the Birds B3 did lower the car a bit more and I did like the look but hitting speed bumps all the time was not good.

my experience with new B6 install was at first drive home from the shop they made the car feel a little brittle/stiff. But within a couple weeks started to feel alot more compliant and I felt like I could hit any pothole I wanted and the car would just crush it into submission. No longer had to fear them. Now about 75K later, car still rides/handles great but they have become even more compliant but I find myseld avoiding potholes when I can.

Twin tube vs mono tube is another thing people need to research into before even thinking about stiffer springs etc. As the twin tube OEM will perform differently to a mono tube on the same shocks.
Some say the mono tube is more responsive but also more harsh and consistent compared to twin tube that is inconsistent but more comfy. Last edited by =C=; 03-13-2019 at 11:20 PM.. |
