I did the golf tee mod myself and am experiencing this noise. Did I not plug up the line correctly?

I used to have a very high pitched sound like this in my e46 and it would come and go, but when it would happen it would be continuous for like 10-15 minutes at a time. I always thought it was coming from the radio or other electronics.
sometimes I could make it go away by slamming my hand on the center part of the dash. I would just crank up the music to drown it out but I could still hear it if I tried to. very annoying, I hope you get it identified and fixed

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I was wondering if anyone has any other ideas on fixing this noise? I picked up a 2011 335i last month and didn't notice the noise on the test drive, but later noticed this noise which sounds exactly like what the OP described. Except, Alpine335TT, it sounds like yours was fixed by plugging a vacuum line, whereas I have stock exhaust so that shouldn't be the issue. I did notice the noise when away when I unplugged the muffler flap actuator, and took it into the dealership and told them this, but they were unable to do anything about it.

I am resurrecting this thread again.
I had the same issue when I got my 2011 328i. It was a high pitch noise that came on, even before the car was turned on and after the car was turned off, even with the (base) stereo and all electronics off. When the car would turn on, it sounded like something was winding up. I took it into BMW and they said it was a defective head unit and were going to overnight me a new one. I should be getting the cart back today or Monday, and I hope the issue is resolved. Hopefully anyone searching through the forums will see this, I'll update you guys when I find out. |

high pitched noise
Think i found the problem after doing research on this. Think its faulty crankcase vent valves. Release valves may be bad or defective thus making the high pitched sound like a "boiling tea pot". This video is much worse but its the sound...

Hello, sorry for getting this old subject back on but i would love to know did you sort out the problem? The topic here seems to talk about 2 different sound? I bought my car 2 weeks ago )435i MY11/2013 and this sound which is the same as yours is driving me crazy already. I only get the noise after 20mph or above.
Cheers in advance |

Exactly the same problem on E60 2009 525d. When I put on the A/C, this noise disapear. On this video with the same problem, they speak of an A/C valve : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ou-XLUTn51k What is this A/C valve ? Thanks |
