335xi N54 secondary cat delete question

Hey everyone,
Im planning on doing the secondary cat delete myself since I can't find a shop that will do it. I see one of the pipes is relatively straight where the cat is and should be easy to replace, but on the other pipe the cat is located right at the bend.
Does anyone know the angle of the pipe to replace it?
I know it's 2.25 inch pipe.

I found the picture online, it has the exact pipe I need. Just looking to see if anyone knows the correct angle.

I used Vibrant 1792 resonators and Vibrant pn 13070 for the bend. Since the resonators are 2.5" ID, I welded some 2.5" pipe over the exhaust first to eliminate any gaps.

I also cut out the compressed bits and opened em up

If you can't find a shop to do it, just cut the parts out yourself and bring it to a shop with the resonators. They'll weld it up for you if you can't. They just won't remove your cats.

i am also wondering to go full catlness or not, and the n55 mid pipe seems to be a solution, but it's more expensive than a cut and weld.

Secondary cats sell for about $200 scrap value. Any cost to do anything in this thread will be offset by selling those off.

A stock n55 exhaust will be extremely cheap, just do the whole system, dont waste money or time or effort by cutting out just the mid section and welding it in. Just bolt it on and scrap the old one for cash

It's custom 304 SS bent to the angle needed. It's found as straight pipe in its original form. 2.5" in diameter. Get Vibrant 1792, which are 2.5". The actual diameter of the exhaust pipes are 2.38". So, it's best to slide it over & weld than to cobble from 2 1/4 to 2.38

There's no chance of leaks if you weld it properly either lol. The exhaust sounds better with resonators than without.

I already listed the exact part to use for the bend, better than the "custom" bend that restricts flow

and it's about less backpressure too if you already have catless downpipes

So you're saying a resonator increases back pressure? I take it you haven't looked through one before....

Thanks! That's some good info. I already bought the vibrant 1792 resonators and im going to either put them where the secondaries are or where the mufflers are.

Thanks for that info! I have two vibrant 1792 resonators ready to go on. Just wanted to figure out how to put them on the bend correctly.

No, of course not and i never said that. N54 midpipes come with two cats on both pipe + a resonator at the end, and N55 midpipe are just full pipe with a resonator at the end.

N54 OEM midpipes causes some backpressure of course because of the two catalytic converters.

Dont be an asshole when you don't know please.

I'd take them to a muffler shop and they can bend the pipe. You'll need to probably tell them to order 304 SS, 2 1/2" pipe. 2 feet at most.

You gain maybe 5hp from this delete. I'm assuming that you have downpipes? That's were you'll gain 25-30hp with a tune. Deleting both takes the back pressure off the turbos, which in effect extends the longevity of them.

Yeah, but N55 was being compared to N54 + resonators, so that didn't make any sense.

It depends on your power level really... They might not be much of a restriction at 400-500, but at 700 you're going to want to get rid of them.

i know it's not a scoop but some people focus on exhaust sound when running catless, while there are other benefits so i was just adding to the topic by the way that running resonators (or tubes) instead of secondary cats is good for decreasing backpressure, so good for turbos life

Those 2 coverters are usually clogged with black garbage. I suggest any N54 owner remove them.

Change your oil and filter but do use one bottle of lukas oil stabilizer each oil change.
The N54 loves it.
