E91 335i strong petrol smell from petrol cap
Guys
As the title says for a while I've had a strong petrol smell from the driver side rear quarter when either a) you put the drivers window down when stopped at lights or you get out the car after a run. The smell is definitely not noticeable in the car but i lifted the rear bench and checked the top of the fuel pump anyway but that was dry as a bone. There is no leak and the level of fuel is irrelevant so I believe that means it not going to be the rubbing away fuel filler pipe issue. So under closer inspection its clear the smell is coming right out the small hole in the centre of the filler cap. So firstly can that be possible, I thought on these cars fumes were supposed to be caught in the carbon cannister setup? Or do I have a duff fuel cap? Any help much appreciated, I'm not really sure what this could be to be honest. Thanks in advance CJ |
