I've always wanted muffler delete on my 328i 08 Coupe, but I'm not sure if it's going to me loud enough and I'm sitting on stock exhaust for right now; however, a resonator delete doesn't sound to shabby as well (both muffler and resonator delete or better exhaust system are an option, but I don't want to break the bank b/c it's a n52).

*In the same time I don't want to sound like a Honda. Let me know what you guys think I should get!!

Muffler delete is still very appropriate assuming rest of the exhaust is stock.

Muffler delete with AA headers screamed like a banshee.

The drone, imo.

I have my slight drone on my setup, but it would take forever and a half to sort a drone that occurs within 500-750 rpms from start to finish (around 2-3k rpm range) after that, it sounds sooooo dope.

desertman123 has the right idea.. aa headers and gen2 exhaust from AA as well, is very nice.

I did resonator delete with a magnaflow muffler on my car and i love it. Its definitely louder than stock but its still not loud, which is what I wanted. You aren't going to drag attention to you while driving around town and there's no drone when driving on the freeway. There is a little bit of drone under 2000 rpm but it's not annoying whatsoever. I have a clip of it in this section, and 6ixspd has the same setup + headers(if i recall correctly) which sounds even better. Overall it sounds great and to the average person walking on the street you will not be noticed or annoying. just my 2 cents.

I just picked up a 2010 328i 6 speed and the first thing I did a day after I got it was get the resonator and secondary cats removed (going to stock muffler).

The exhaust shop (which I thought was pretty reputable) put the Y-pipe right after the secondary cats. I'm not sure as I don't have so much experience with this engine, but the the car feels a little sluggish. Is the N52 weak on power generally (my previous car was a 2005 745i) or is it possible that this exhaust mod actually reduced flow somehow?

Supposedly some say removing secondary cats you lose some low end but gain high end from 4500k to 6000k. I don't know how true this is. But at the same time, any mid pipe setup you find for n52 will be a dual pipe all the to the resonator. But keep in mind that you need to give it 3 to 400 miles to let it adapt or learn your modification to the exhaust.

By “dual pipe all the way to the resonator” do you mean that the current exhaust set up I’m running was done improperly?

I called the exhaust shop today and they said they’d move the y-pipe down to the original spot it is on the stock setup. I’ll report back if they are any noticeable changes.

On my 2006 E90 N/A I started with a 2.25" electric cutout and welded it right before the muffler, in my opinion, it sounded okay but it just wasn't enough, I then removed the secondary cats (which doesn't cause a CEL) and it they barely made any difference, it got a little deeper and popped a tad bit more. Next, I decided to delete the resonator and at this point, with the cutout open, the car sounds pretty good, I wish it was raspier at higher RPM's but I think that is due to the cutout still allowing some exhaust to flow through the muffler.

AND even with the resonator and secondary cats deleted, when I close the exhaust cutout (with my keychain remote) , the car still sounds pretty much stock, with the valve closed there is no drone whats so ever. It is very convenient and fun to have the electric cutout, especially on the highway. I got my cutout on amazon for $67 and it came with everything I needed, including wiring. All you have to do is cut a hole in you exhaust before the muffler and have someone weld the cutout pipe over the hole, super simple!
