I ended up doing the striker adjustment after my wind noise returned. I managed to round the torx points in the top bolt... so my self-inflicted "degree of difficulty" will be higher if I ever need to adjust it again Didn't think I would have to worry about stripping them with my little socket wrench...
Very simple and helpful. Thanks again.

FYI:
Door Striker torque is 21NM for the E90/E91. I can't find specifically the E92/E93, so I would guess this number is a good estimate. http://workshop-manuals.com/bmw/3_se...ar_door_locks/ |

great write up, thanks
i'm finding my locking nut and shaft are tight, so i cannot turn them independently. i suppose i'm going to need to remove the door card so i can get a spanner and torx bit on at the same time? |

I followed this guide to try to adjust the passenger window as there is lots of wind noise.
I used a 10mm socket to lossen the locknut (1/2 turn counter clockwise). I then used the T15 bit to rotate the torx screw (about 10 turns clockwise) to adjust. It appears like it adjusted slightly. However, when I use the 10mm to tighten the locknut, i was able to rotate it about 4 times clockwise and it still isn't tight. Can anyone please confirm that for the E92 passenger window: 1. Locknut is counterclockwise to loosen, clockwise to tighten 2. Torx screw is clockwise to move the top of the window in towards the door |

Curious why there isn't any reply from the OP. Anyway what does the bottom adjustment do, that was talked about in the original post but never explained.
I want to adjust my window because in the winter sometimes the window is stuck and as a result I cannot close my door properly. Without the automatic down/up that the window does the window ends up smacking the frame. It's a horrible time. I need to adjust my window by a millimeter or two. I'm not sure if it should come in a bit or go down a bit. To be more clear. If I were to remove the fuse for my window so the up/down when opening the door didnt work, my window would hit up against the frame. |

My bad, I read your instructions wrong and a follow up post made me believe something else.
I agree that fixing the seal is the right thing to do, but under the condition where the window is frozen and wont lower I literally cannot close my door because it is catching the metal frame by a mm or two. This would also mean that under a condition where my window stops working, such as a blown fuse, I will not be able to close my door. This doesn't sound right to me so I'm assuming it needs to be adjusted. I suspect adjusting the angle inward a little bit will provide enough clearance. Now, you can open the car door without lowing the window and it won't catch the frame. Such as if I were to pull my battery, and then open my car door. So this tells me that something probably isn't aligned and by design it's intended to be able to be opened and closed with out the automatic dropping. The glass shouldnt smash up against the door frame. I don't believe so anyway. |

Anyone knows if window preload would affect my issue? When I roll the window up going fast (highway speeds) sometimes it won't close fully and kinda like stays open or something. I have to roll it down then back up a few times until it closes fully.
Not sure if weak motor/regluator or not since passenger side doesn't really do it |

Thanks for posting this, I'll give it a try and report back. If I can fix the wind noise above 70mph I'll be a happy man!
One thing I did notice, if I'm driving along above 65mph or so and get the wind noise, if I push the triangle insert on the inside corner of the door where the tweeter would be, this closes the gap and stops the noise. It doesn't appear to be loose but before I go and do all this, has anyone else fixed the windnoise by adjusting this or the seal somehow? |

I know this is an old thread, but I have endured wind noise at speed from the passenger window of my E82 128i. I tried to move the door striker, but to quiet the wind noise, the door had to be inside the bodywork, not a satisfactory adjustment.
The chassis is similar to the E9x, and the adjusting mechanism is as described. On my car, the hex bolt needs a 13 mm socket to loosen it. Once accomplished, I found it difficult to turn the T15 adjuster clockwise, so I tried the other direction. A quarter turn seems to have made enough of a difference, but I'll have to take a ride at some point to confirm this. Thank you for posting this adjustment procedure! I'll let you know if I need to make further adjustments. Edited to note 13 mm socket, not 14 mm. Also, I readjusted the passenger side as it was still a bit noisy. Then I adjusted the driver's side a bit, too. Weird that the adjusting screw wanted to return to a position, almost like it was spring loaded. Don't loosen the locknut too much. My car seems quite a bit quieter now even when there isn't a lot of wind!
