My mates Lexus IS is rear wheel drive, a colleague at work has a new C Class which is also rear wheel drive and both have summer tyres on. Out of the three I was the only one stranded in the snow and needing to spend £700 on winter tyres so clearly it's a BMW issue and not down to drive or tyres alone.

Not really a scientific test unless the other 2 cars were wearing the same make and size of tyre. Were they runflats? This also makes things worse.

Mines not on runflats but was still lethal/useless.

Fact is when it snowed it was BMWs you saw abandoned at the side of the road, not rear wheel drive cars. Even the work X5s were rubbish in snow and left at base while the Volvo XC90s were taken out instead and both are 4x4 with all weather Tyres.

Not just a rear wheel drive problem, its BMW problem

Is it just mine, or are all coupes the same when it comes to returning the folded front seats.

You have to click it back into position, with quite a bit of force... am I doing it wrong?

Interestingly, alot of your complaints, you can also level at the 1 series I currently have.

Run flats (but no solution for me as it's a company car)
Window buttons too far forward so the rears get dropped inadvertently.
No continuous wipe on the rear window, other than when in reverse.

Mind you, that's not alot, and every car I've ever had has had faults which are hardly deal breakers to the overall car itself.

Got some miles on the new E91 now. Dislikes (in no particular order) are currently...

- Tailgate that doesn't shut under it's own weight, needs a slam
- LEDs in door handles are not all the same colour (!) front ones are 'whiter'
- Noisy wipers
- Beam assist just doesn't work for me. Fed up with getting flashed at or main beam switching off just when I need it, so back to manual for me
- Auto wipers that either go mad or don't turn on
- Auto wiper LED obscured by steering wheel, so can't see if it's on
- Window switches too far forward
- Takes several goes to get random option working when playing music on iPhone
- Phone prep doesn't completely support my work Nokia - default numbers in phonebook only (although this is documented)
- Same clutch judder as I had in my E82
- Revs that rise when you dip the clutch. Is this some ECU bodge to hide the clutch judder? If so, doesn't work
- Rattles from rear luggage area. Could be luggage cover
- Dash has started to creak, especially when cold. Seems to be around centre air vents
- Weird noises that come from climate control
- Rear of the car gets filthy. Clean the car - within a couple of miles it's mucky again
- cleaning between the double spokes on the 193M wheels is a faff

Guess I'm a bit fussy!

Agree to these points and adding.

- The voice recognition. Calling my girlfriend regularly ends with trying to call my boss. And my mates pub puts me on the options page.
- The smear marks on the window when they open half way on opening the doors.
- The scratch that a pikey neighbour put above the 320D badge.

Having not driven my E91 325d much over the last two months, I did a short 50 mile trip. Even with run flats the car was smooth, comfortable, fast, infact everything my S typre Jag,Audi, Golf and Mercedes C class, all I have owned in the last 2 years, was not.

Its just a nice car

Got to disagree here - each to their own but I wouldn't have bought one if I had to have leather.

USB port in glove box... should have some lighting next to it, I can never see it at night to plug it in!

(cont)

- cup-holders that don't seem to hold any size of cup/can/bottle properly. They either don't fit, buzz or fall out completely. Most amusing are small coffee cups, that once you've drunk a certain amount, get ejected onto the lap of your unsuspecting passenger.

- 4-pot diesel a bit louder than I had expected when under load.

- if you turn off ignition with front or rear wipers on, they don't park themselves. When you then start the car up, they just stay put. Have to turn the wipers off and on (and off again if not raining).

Better stick some positives in that other thread!
