Thumbs up Northern Meet Details (Sat Oct 25th) Now with Photos (p9)

OK, so as agreed the first Northern Meet will take place on Saturday 25th October.
Harrogate to Whitby
Lunch in Whitby
Proposed meeting time 10am. Can be a bit later if people are travelling far to Harrogate.

Suggested route:http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sa...3&ie=UTF8&z=11

This takes in various interesting places, such as Thirsk,The White Horse at Sutton Bank and Helmsley.

Total distance 155miles

If people think this is too far it can be shortened, but only by 15 miles or so.

Obviously people could also join en route if we know who, where and roughly what time.

Can people please make sure that they update their attendance details on the calendar?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/calend...2008-10-25&c=1

Also, is anyone likely to be staying over on Fri and or Sat night?

Cheers

Gav

Me also. I don't fancy the drive home after that run - and getting there in the first place.

Good route Gav taking in a few of North Yorkshire's finest. You see it isn't all bad heading east.

I've roughly worked out that I'll need to re-fuel by the time we hit Scarborough taking into account the 66 miles or so from my house to Harrogate. There's a Shell station on Seamer Road, Scarborough which is handy. Surely I won't be the only one that will need fuel by then?

As for staying over, yes Saturday night would be good and can totally understand why Mike and Alan have mentioned it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from memory isn't car parking in Harrogate a bit of a premium? If so presumambly there are plenty of hotels with adequate parking facilities?

I know of Nidd Hall but this is approximatley 5.5 miles outside of Harrogate, through Knaresborough and is very popular as it's for adults only! I can maybe get a discount through CSMA (Civil Service Motoring Association). Obviously depends on what everyone wants to do on the night and taxi fares notwithstanding.

Not empty Will, just planning.

Seriously, that had crossed my mind actually.

There's a Travel Lodge in Harrogate - it will have parking?

They have no rooms available on 25th but offer as an alternative, the Britannia at Leeds Bradford airport which doesn't seem to far away from Harrogate.

Yes, it's a nice enough hotel, but when you say it's for Adults only,it's hardly Club 18-30, more club 75-Grave.

In fact the Nidd and the Crescent in Scarborough are the only 2 hotels I've stayed in and witnessed corpses dancing, and yes before you mention it, I did feel at home

Thanks for the route approval

Yep. Harrogate parking is tricky, particularly on a Saturday. It might even be best to meet at Ripley to start the run. I think there's enough parking there.

I posted links to several Harrogate hotels and information pages previously, but these might help.
