Oil Change Poll

I want to know how many miles you go until you change the oil?
What type of oil do you use?
What is recommend for a 06 325i.

IMO the 17k oil change interval is way way too long for oil..everyone has their opinion... I generally stick to 5k intervals..I always stick to OE BMW oil & filter...

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...ngineOils.aspx

Straight from BMW, approved oils...Its not called "The Ultimate Driving Machine" for nothing...

Many folks will follow Jiffy's Lube recommendation of 5K miles OCI.
Many folks will split the difference of their CBS monitor and OCI at 7500 to 10K miles.
A few folks actually believe that BMW knows how to build cars, and that advanced cultures don't live in the 1980's anymore thus there has been progress in both metallurgy and fluid chemistry.

Or make up your own rule.

Damn, I usually changed the oil every 3k. Maybe I should wait long and save a little cash.

Do what thou shall wilt.

I'd suggest GC, German Castrol, 0w30. You'll want a 0 cold weight oil for better cold start oiling, help prevent the N52 ticking problem.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

I cut the factory OCI in half, do it about every 8-9K miles. I use my local BMW dealer's standard oil, Castrol SLX 0W30. In The Netherlands, the dealer thinks I'm crazy for doing it more often than suggested by BMW.

I use Mobil 1 0W40. Change it every 8,500 miles, and it has been great. I recommend that you use BMW's 5W30 for your 325I. Good luck and happy driving.

Did an initial break-in oil change around 1,200 miles, and I will be doing changes at every 7,500 miles thereafter using the oil change kit from Tischer with BMW oil and filter (in between my free oil changes at the dealer).
