Aperture: f/9
ISO: 100

on this one I wanted the slowest shutter speed that would let me hand hold the camera and still get a crisp clear picture (to try and maximize the motion blur). 1/60 was the lowest I could go, so I adjusted the aperture accordingly.

Picture #2
Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Lens: Sigma 10-20
Focal Length: 10mm
Shutter Speed: 1/800 sec
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 100

that is the info from one of the pictures, it is actually a 3 Exposure HDR image. It is almost impossible to use natural lighting and get a good exposure on my black rims as well as the rest of the car without using multiple exposures. I pretty much always shoot 3 bracket photos. Sometimes I will use HDR, sometimes I just use one of the three shots but then I have a few different lighting variations to pick from!

Picture #3
Camera: Canon EOS 7D
Lens: Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8
Focal Length: 21mm
Shutter Speed: 1/640 sec
Aperture: f/2.8
ISO: 100

HDR again like pic #2.

I'd guess 60ish considering the 1/60 shutter speed.

ND8 and CPL filters were used to create better shallow depth of field and increased contrast.
Off camera flash was used for the 1st shot right behind the car with the power set at 1/4, and the 3rd shot set 1/8 flash power facing the wheel.

Tips: Don't hesitate to use external flash unit under bright sunny day. You can use the flash to light on the subject's highly shadowed area that is directly against the sunlight, to give the subject an overall good exposure.

After the first couple shots, the quality is really starting to come up.

OP your pictures weren't bad, but you should certainly take your camera off auto in order to get the most out of it.

Couple basic rules should apply when taking most pictures:
---Rule of thirds
---Nothing "growing" out of the car (trees, light poles, etc.)

And lastly, having an eye for proper composition is of the utmost importance. Without composition, the photo will look disjointed, awkward, and just give off the "something is off" vibe.

I'm no pro by any means, but I definitely learned awhile ago that just pointing and shooting doesn't always get the job done.
(P.S. as you can see, both of these photos break the rules, but sometimes it doesn't matter!)

Amazing boken and DOF from a fast prime + a full frame body, something that requires more effort on an APS-C camera to achieve.

Yeah FX is definitely better at producing strong dof, but my D7000 actually does an amazing job and is only really lacking in high ISO when compared to the FX body.

Yeah high ISO is a concern due to the noise density on the small sized APS-C sensor. But noise can always be reduced with PP like noise ninja, just a little more efforts.

My recent favourite photo I took a few days ago.

Camera: Canon 5dMarkII
Lens: Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f1.4 CY mount with CY to EOS adapter
Aperture: 2.0
Shutter Speed: 1/125
iso: 50
white balance: custom
metering: spot
One hour before sunset, and shooting directly at the sun to create the soft tone, and lens flare.

Anyone here uses flickr here?
