What are the benefits of X Drive?

Hi Guys

I'm really torned beetween getting an e92 335i with the x-drive for winter, or getting a normal one with RWD. I really want to know, in what does it differ in feeling and in looks compared to a RWD e92. Does it feel less sporty, slower, or heavier..restricted? Or is oriented as an awd sports car, to have more traction and somewhat better acceleration?

Get the i. Xi does not include sport suspension, rides higher and is heavier. Does not have better acceleration.

Then again since you have an M3 already, maybe you should go with an xi for the winter.

The m3 is back home outside the US. I study/live in boston, so I want to get an e92 335i!

Just get both the Xi and the I. The XI for winter and the I for the rest

Get a used 4x4. You don't need an E92 xi in college.

I love my xi especially with a tune. Makes the car unreal off the line.

Factor in some sort of suspension mod if you don't like the high speed (100+) floaty feeling or the wheel gap.

My X Drive is on the roads in Maryland while 5 of my buddies at work that have 335i's are using alternative transportation to get to work. 0-60 times are a scant bit better (as in 0.1 sec.) than the 335i so call it even. Splitting time with an M3 and X Drive would make sense.

Hence the reason I'm asking now, I was convinced on an I but looking outside my window with the snow here in boston! I decided to think about the x-drive.. but I'm not convinced. I've ridden on my friends 328xi and seems heavy and makes noises when rolling.

How's your xi? What can you say about your experience in the snow so far?

Also, I really dislike how the x-drive car sits. It's so high!

We got hammered here today with snow, and it continues to fall as I write. I was one of the few on the road today with zero issues navigating through piles left by plows, or climbing/descending hills. I have winters installed. The experience was confidence inspiring.

If you're driving in Boston, where do you utilize the increased performance of the i vis a vis the added security of the xi?

So lower it. There's nothing more badass than a slammed E92 cruising through snow packed streets.

^^^ Hence me... e92 335xi with KW v1 during the blizzard with people looking at me like I'm an idiot in their SUVs... Can't help but smirk. Best feeling in the world.

Get the xi + some coils... you will not regret...

xDrive.... yeah it's pretty much been a million times better than any rwd car would be this winter.

So glad I got xDrive, it's not even funny. Better performance on wet roads, rough roads.... roads I drive on all the time.
