E91 touring rear wiper siezed
Anyone had to replace a rear tailgate wiper motor?
My touring rear wiper will only do a quarter of a wipe before getting stuck. Can this be repaired or will it need a new motor? |

If you open the rear window and try to move the wiper by hand, it probably feels stiff. Every few months I move it backwards and forwards by hand (obviously with the tailgate window open) and spray something around the spindle until it moves freely

Mine needs done every few months. Think new rubber seal would help stop it happening so often. Hope you sort it before the motor seizes.
I did a kind of guide here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=639644 |

Hi all,
I'm having some trouble with the rear windscreen wiper on my 2010 E91. When I bought it, it was suffering from the spindle issue mentioned in this thread which I fixed but now it has stopped working completely (the wiper moves freely with the tailgate open). Below is a list of things I have done so far and some observations made during the process Fix attempts - Checked the fuses and relays in the fuse box they all seem to be fine. - Changed the whole motor assembly for a second hand replacement but the fault was still there. Observations - When I took the boot lining off there were signs that water had leaked in at some point. - Rear wiper washer Jet is still working but without the wiper. - Upon diagnostic interrogation via the OBD port the computer is displaying "rear wiper blocked" - When I accidentally touched 5V lead from the light on the tailgate lining on the case of the motor it starts working - not sure how relevant that is as I'm no electrician Any suggestions on what could be wrong would be greatly appreciated! cheers pete |
