best fuel to use for 335i gains???

hi guys im a genuine newbie to this forum and found plenty of useful info and tips already!! however as it stands im struggling on finding info on with fuel to use for best power gains?? doing my own research looks like shell V power nitro seems to come up top but some gains are lost (at points through the rev range) due to the burn temp rate this fuel combusts at. so i've seen people running 93, 97, 99 oct or even a cheeky mix of two? as it stands im getting my JB4 and catted downpipes fitted in a few days!! (which im very excited about!!) oh and i already have gutted 2nd cats and dci fitted. after fitment i plan on getting a dyno run to see my gains. so any help on fuel choice would be much appreciated!!

Interesting, I have been running V-Power nitro assuming it was giving the best gains. I would guess 93 was referring to US-Spec fuel as they are on AKI? and we are on RON.

IIRC AKI? US-Spec fuel has a lower octane rating compared to UK spec fuels? So for example 91 AKI = 95 RON

Or at least I think anyway

Hey Paul, i feel my car runs better on shell v power, also use tesco momentum (see the momentum thread) As you can see starting to play around with ethanol although this time of year testing is impossible...if you want to elevate the dyno stick in some octane booster for the run! Good luck and post the results.

well shell v power is rated at 99 ron. pretty much the highest you can buy in the uk. my 335i gains about 3-4mpg under normal driving using this fuel which is impressive as it pays for itself in theory! i have read somehwere that bp (i think) now have 6 stations in the uk selling 101 ron!! however they are all london and birmingham i belive so no use to me. think i shall run the v power and ocatne booster for the dyno and see what happens! i shall post my results monday night!

I've always been under the impression that V-power offers the best gains.
