Consider high flow cats or catless downpipes & a tune.

If you go with a tune, make sure your plugs & coils are new. Make sure that your turbos & injectors are healthy.

I'll take a look into maybe removing my second cats after this winter...

As for tune plugs and coils I've been running stage 2 93 Oct without issue for a few weeks, I'll change them when they need to.

How do I make sure my turbos and injectors are healthy tho?

I wanted to avoid paying 60$ and just use ISTA.

But basically if I'm hitting target boost I'm fine? Or is there more info on fuel injectors?

EDIT: Holy it's 100$. Still bought it, time to go for a ride and see how well the car is lol.

Make sure you log correctly, find a nice open stretch of road.
Take DTC completely off.
Put in manual mode
From 3rd gear at ~2500rpm go WOT till ~6500rpm

I peaked at 16 PSI.

I will do a perfect log like you said another day, but all and all it seemed good to hit 16 PSI.

I am on Stage 2 93 Octane

Not sure if I pop flames or not but aggressive burbles are loud loud loud... the bigger xpipe isn't required but it makes a difference... I bought a used one for like $50.

Yes you'll need two resonators.

Ok nice. Maybe I'll get X pipe we will see.

When you rev at stationary, are you able to get pops?

For some reason no... only while moving

Man same here. I have to feather the gas a bit to get single pops, would have thought second cats remove would make it more.

But if I'm driving 5 km/h in neutral and rev and let go the MHD goes on and sounds so good haha.

By just replacing second cats by resonators am I getting also louder pops to? Just trying to audio visualize what it will do.

Correct. The pops WILL be louder. It's loudest once you rev to about 3500 rpm and lift off the throttle.

Also, it's loudest once the exhaust has been fully warmed up.

Yep, that's the one. Yes you will need two.

You will also need about 3 feet or so of SS 2.5" exhaust pipe. Make sure you get 304 SS.

No flames ... lol

Coils & plugs lifetime is cut in 1/2 with a tune. So, figure 50,000 miles on coils & 22,000 miles on plugs. You should also be using the NGK plugs

Why do I need the steel pipes?

Might as well use pipes instead of resonators or is that to crazy loud?

heyRoKitty,

i am about to purchase the Cobb catted DP, and 2 of these vibrant 1792 resonators to swap out the secondary cats, but i can't seem to find the magnaflow 2.5" X pipe, is this a generic item that fits multiple setups? do you have a link to said X pipes by chance?

reason i want to do the Cobb catted DP is so the DP appears stock, and would hopefully pass an emissions test if and when i hopefully import this car into Japan in a couple years. would the Vibrant 1792 resonators be a problem for inspection purposes you think? what about the MF X pipe? car is a '11 335is BTW, thanks homie!

Notice the SS pipe attached to the resonator. Because of how the pipes are configured to the secondary cats & me wanting them to be aligned perfectly. No vibrant resonators = ridiculously loud rasp & drone

Ok looks nice!

Just to clarify, deleting second cats and adding resonators how much increase in noise and aggressiveness does it do by itself? Just want to make sure I'm not doing this for nothing.

Meh gotta gap them. More work.

My OE plugs right now I'm running perfectly fine.

The forum seems to recommend them for FBO + which I suppose would be with a intercooler.

Is the job usually done with exhaust on the car or you have to remove it? Because they have to weld all around right?

It will add some aggressiveness to the sound. You will also be taking some back pressure off if your turbos. You'll probably add 5-10hp by removing the secondary cats.

If you have PE exhaust or the 335is mufflers with the golf tee mod, like I said, it eliminates rasp & drone.

If you have catless down pipes, they will help refine the sound.

X-pipe vs stock H-pipe

https://www.bumberas.com/blog/2018/6...h-pipe-exhaust

2.5" SS X-pipe will make a difference in sound.
