That's not true at all. Its all depends on this Type R he is speaking of.

I used to have 1992 EG that was gutted with a K20A in it, which is a Type R k20 from japan, with more aggressive cams and dual valve springs. It was paired with a Type R transmission, which has insane gearing. The car with me in it weighed 2175lbs and dynoed right under 230whp revving to 9k. This little car was no joke, from a roll it pulled my 335 when it wasn't spraying meth.

Then I put a 75 shot on it and it walked away from my 335i even spraying meth.

Here is a video of one racing a tuned 335. Keep in mind this one has full interior and a stock k20, not even a type R and a non type R trans.

Stock Evo IX turbo, GSC Stage 2 with upgraded spring/retainers, Sparkteck ignition, HKS intake, 3 inch exhaust no cats.

I don't have a baseline Dyno, but when I had only a drop-in filter and a catback with a HFC, boost around 21, it put down 299 awhp/ 303 ft-lbs with a stock Evo VIII turbo.

Well yea!

My RSX had a blower and nitrous on it, it broke a lot of hearts and it was a pig weighing in at 2800 lbs.

K20 ftw

In what body? Does it have interior? If it is a built type R k20 that motor can be making anywhere from 230-280 all motor. Paired with a light car, it will probably give you a run for your money.

Haha that's what I am saying. People always jump to the conclusion of "oh its just a 4 cylinder honda it will be slow" and then they are so very very wrong.

Well yea, that thing "depends" can mean a lot.

But like I said, given the information and its not a lie the OP is fine. (assumes a dc2 Type R with bolt ons and a stock turbo stock motor evo 8 with bolt ons)

Anything more then that and it's a toss up. As I said before and most people agree, if they are ready to throw down money, someone is lying about mods.

As an aside I need to find me another RSX, I miss that car.

Coming from a FBO EVO IX pay attention to a few things. First--the turbo look for anti surge porting, 3in inlets, etc etc
stock ix turbo on pump =375whp *** mustang dyno
stock ix turbo on e85 = 416 ***
gt3076 on e85=498/458 ***

Stock turbo evo you won't have a problem with, no matter the mods. I ran a FBO Evo X with 2 step launch control for a bill and he had me until top of 2nd and I pulled back, by top of 4th I had 2-3 cars on him. This was when I only had downpipes and cobb stage 2 tune.

It all depends on how truthful your friends are. I had a stock turbo IX putting down 414awhp and walked away from every single procede full bolt on car from a roll.

So stop playing around and put 10k up front and tell them 5k each and you set the terms, take the 10k and buy a single then go smoke them both.

Well, how about a poker approach? Raise em!

Why not say, "$200 uh, well if i am going to race it might as well be $400"

see how they react if they put money down right away, they obviously have some confidence and they may be lying about what they really have. But if you offer that, you have to put down $400.

so maybe not the best approach?

I thought this was quite funny. I was thinking of the same thing.

But like most have said, if they're being honest, you'll have no trouble with them. However, they could be fishing and you'll be fighting a hard battle. Either way, best of luck OP and let us know how things go.

Speculating is all fun, but just take $400 and go find out, then report back otherwise this is boring!

So very far from accurate...lol
My friend Fathouse's (previous EVO people have probably heard of him) EVO, stock turbo, stock block, drag radials, full interior went 11.2 @124. Not by any means typical, but possible.

My EVO, stock turbo, no cams, exhaust, E85, summer tires went 11.9 (forget MPH) 2 years ago. edit: I found a youtube video. One of my slower runs and it was a 12.1 @124 to give you an idea also....stock turbo Now once it was fully built, forget about it....lol

I'm not saying this is what he's up against. I'm just saying don't make general statements that obviously you're wrong about!

Back on topic:
Like others have told you. A lot has to do with how "honest" they're being and a ton of other factors.

It's all bench racing until you get out there and see what they can do.

Ok guys last night met up with the guys. Raced type R three times and had about three cars on him each time. The evo jumped out every time about a car but by fourth I was pulling about 3/4 of a car. We were doing 40mph rolls. He popped the hood for me and he had intake, exhaust, boost controller, cams, downpipes and spearco intercooler.
