Coding VM Question
I've got an old laptop and I put an SSD in it so I can run Windows 10 and the VM.
I've got the DCAN cable. Windows 10 sees it. I can see it in the VM. I changed the com port to 1 I started going through this guide to make sure i'm connected and it doesn't seem like it's connecting to the car, or i'm doing something wrong. http://codinge90.com/getting-started/ I tried to do the first step (having it recognize the ignition being on) and I get nothing. What am I missing? I'm just trying to register a new battery. Thanks for your help. |

The host Os is windows 10, because I had it on a flash drive. I'm running the Windows 7 VM that was posted on here. I'll double check the COM settings
I'll make sure I do this on Both the host OS and VM. Thank you |

The cable can only be "connected" to either the host or VM, not both. As long as the VM has the correct device settings, you're good to go.

I can see it inside the VM. I changed the Com port to one. I can't find anything really how to configure the applications. i tried to INPA to tell me if it's connected but I can't get it to tell me if the car is on. INPA doesn't match the screenshots in http://codinge90.com/getting-started/

You must assign hardware access to the VM in the configuration profile.
If you don't the VM will appear to have a serial port but it will not work. The profile establishes the relationship between the virtual port and your real port. Note that both can have different com port assignments yet still work if you configure them correctly. How to do this is up to the VM hypervisor you are using... see it's documentation for info. |
