Thanks for the input guys. I agree on the spec, I won’t be able to find another e90 N54 6mt LCI car easily. Every time I drive the car any thoughts like these disappear so I guess I just need to drive it more

As far as N52 vs. N54 reliability I can say with 100% certainty the N52 will outshine any day. At this point I’ve had extensive experience with both and apart from a few accessories the N52 is a spiritual successor to the M52. Plenty of N52 cars entering grassroots drift and track events now with minimal failures. Sure you’ll have your typical cooling system failures but those are not even a drop in the bucket compared to N54 issues. 6 injectors on an N54 are $1700 at this point. That’s the majority of the cost to get an N52 car fully track ready.

But I digress - this isn’t really about the cost involved but more the enjoyment level. I don’t mind working on my 335 and do all the work myself anyways so I think I’ll stick with it for a while longer.

But good thoughts guys!

This part....I've owned my car since 2013 with 20k miles and it's just covered 80k miles last month. I really didn't start to modify the car much until last year. Now I'm full FBO, KW V2's, Apex wheels, etc. Dumped about $12k into her recently between some upgrades and normal maint - also replaced some parts that were accelerated by running E85 I suspect like the LP fuel sensor, etc.

Now, I have a stubborn misfire in cyl #1. New coils and packs haven't remedied the situation so you know what's next.....my injectors are index 7 and the car is an '09. I think installing the Stage 2 LPFP pushed the old injector over the edge and the rest will probably follow, misfire started just shortly after the pump install. It's been a good run. So now I'm looking at another $1700 for the injectors which I planned on spending on some aero and paint work. Ugh. Compound with the SMOG issues here in CA (I still need to pass) and Ive been seriously contemplating calling it a wrap.

But I enjoy having no payment. Cant afford to buy what I really want out right now. Sure I can easily swing payments but see the latter. LOL.

I've always wanted one of the newer 5.0's/GT350 or an older GT500. Two years ago I had a chance to snag a really clean '12 GT500 for a great price and I occasionally lose some sleep.

What else would I replace this car with? Last gen M4 for sure but I'll still have the same smog issues when I mod. And it did take me a while to find this car. Black on black, low miles, 6spd, fully loaded with the exception of cold weather package and M sport. Still don't understand why the original owner paid for the premium "19 wheels over the the M package when the M package was actually cheaper!

I don't know, still undecided. Either way I need to do the injectors before I'd sell the car.

Garage List
I owned Z's before the 335i so I'm planning on picking up the new Z (Z34.5 ) and giving the E92 a break. It's my daily at 141k+ miles and realistically needs new turbos, clutch, oil pan gasket and rear main seal. I've spent too much keeping it running well up to this point that even though it's going to need a large % of what it's currently worth in parts and labor, I just can't bring myself to get rid of it

I rode in a buddy's vette last month. Unlike my e92, it rode like a very small old man car. The body floated on the chassis. Meanwhile my e92 feels like skiing on fresh packed powder, but on rails. So tight, but smooth. Not to mention if you are claustrophobic that deathtrap is not the car for you.

i also asked myself what could be my next car, but when i try some cars, even with more (stock) power, it doesn't feel like my N54. It's a fucking keeper !
