Coding CIC to HiFi output

Hi Guys,

I have a 2011 E92 with CIC navigation and base stereo.

I am looking to install an AMP and want to code out the factory EQ and get lower output levels.

I have tried to do some research on how to code the CIC headunit, but all the guides/forums seem just to be either CCC of the business radio.

Has anyone done this before and can point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Ive done the individual retrofit from the base setup and it was pretty straight forward tbh.

As for factory EQ, only the individual and logic 7 allow this.

If you code Hifi (easy enough), then add the amp, that should work fine, it will flatten the audio curve and you can hse the bass and treble to get the desired effect.

For coding the cic, use NCSexpert and then just select the audio system required and then code it up, its easy enough.

You wont need to code the VO for it to work, but for completeness its always a good idea.

Thank you I will have another look.

My NCSExpert looks nothing like that? I certainly don't have tick boxes that I can see, is that another program?

Its ncsdummy mate, its what i use to change the values (and then write the MAN file).

It just makes it a bit easier to use...

https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-of-NCS-Expert

Use ncsexpert to dump the config and then use ncsdummy to read the dump and then make changes and then use ncsexpert to code the MAN file back.

It takes a little longer but is deffo worth it.

Any option coded other than bass (stereo) and hifi need the optical fibre interface.

No mate. It’s the top of the range system from Bmw.

It’s like a £2.5k option

The alpine is for base systems, you then code the cic or radio to hifi to flatten the audio curve.

Short answer is no.

The HiFi system does not have the hardware, code or menus to enable the eq, it's only available on logic7 and EPS

Hello everyone.

Sorry to revive an old thread but need ask something regarding coding.

So I had my car coded to hifi and then installed an amp earthquake component and coaxial so yeah, nearly the works!
Now I need sell the car (ULEZ) so i want to take my amp subs and maybe component back out. If I leave it coded to hifi would it cause an issue or do I need to code it back to base? Bearing in mind there is no hifi amp and never was.

Thanks guys

You will either have to recode back to base or leave an amp in.

Coding for HiFi, alters the curve parameters so it will sound very poor indeed without an amp.

Hello,

Thanks for the response ccfj1.

Is it bad if I don't care too much about the sound after? I'm going sell the car and I want to keep the amp.

It won't play havoc with the electrics will it?

hmmm, thats up to you mate, its not something i would be happy about, i couldn't knowing sell something that i new was not right (and easy to fix).

Thats Fair enough, either say that to any buyer or put it back to base.

No it wont, but it will sound awful.

As a potential buyer, poor sounds from the audio system would put me off... but it's up to you GLWTS

Yeah you right man. It's the wrong way to do things. I'll get it recoded and then take it from there.

Thanks for the advise and response

Or at least knock £100 off the price to allow them to buy a coding app. But do tell them, otherwise they might throw loads of money trying to work out why it sounds so poor.

Hello glzze,

Thanks for response. You right. My moral compass came back!
I've decided to keep the car a little longer, due to the whole ULEZ I can only keep untill October 2021 so I may aswell keep it till then.
I'll probably get it recoded in summer or December 2020 .

Thanks for replies peeps

I have a similar situation where I am doing my ccc to cic retrofit and my ccc setup includes Hi-Fi amp but the CIC headunit that I got was used in car with base setup.

Please note that I am new to all the bmw upgrades and diy so I am little scared that I will screw up everything.

I need to get coding done for it to be used and I believe, would you recommend trying myself or getting some professional help.
