Valvetronic issues
Hi im pretty nee to the forum although i have had a long list of BMW's but hardly any issues.
I recently purchased my pride and joy a white 335 n55 dct all was find up until recently when i pulled of from the lights and the car went into limp mode with eml flashing and i felt a misfire ignition of and then back on car was fine until the next day were the engine light in the dash would not switch off so had the code read and came up with 2EOF valvetronic deactivated adjustment too frequent so had a little search on the forum and decided to change the valvetronic at an indy so collected the car today and initially all fine up until 10 minutes of sitting in traffic and the eml light in the dash screen came on and again engine reduced power by this time garage was closed so decided to have the fault read by friend who has launch software and came up with the 2EOF error but also 2E12 valvetronic no adjustment possible we tried clearing faults but they wouldnt clear so after trying a manual calibration still nothing and i decided to drive the car home on the way back stopped over for 5 minutes switched the car back on and no faults no eml so i gave it a little bit of a hard drive on the dual carriageway and again the eml light came on flashing aswell as the misfire then switch off and on everything normal again. Please any help would be appreciated im literally lost as to what to do next. Thank You |

I wonder if they screwed something up... It is possible that the unit just went bad too. Not sure if I have heard of that. Only issues I remember hearing about were Vanos units and the bolts, but that was before the recall.

Yep, we have seen that before. There is a guy with a popped engine they forgot to put oil in and he got screwed.

Do you know what was actually replaced? My valvetronic servomotor went bad and I replaced it. My symptoms were an electrical clicking sound when the car would wake or go to sleep. It took a month for any codes to put up for me to figure out that was the problem.

Just the valvetronic servo motor was replaced along with all necessary gaskets the issue is i'm still getting the same codes plus more and was assuming replacing the motor wpuld have solved the initial problem

Maybe it is the actual cable/wire that connects to the servomotor rather than the motor. I am really not sure, just guessing. But to be honest, it is possible to mess up the servomotor when installing if they let the eccentric shaft slip and spring back. Was a pretty tense moment when replacing mine.

Also want to say I had a different error code and mine was 100% a faulty servomotor. "No adjustment possible" sounds like the servomotor is not getting power or the eccentric shaft is out of alignment from either being installed wrong or one of the min/max stops braking off (very unlikely)

Coincidentally, I also have a 2E0F code on my N55 now. No other codes, not even a check engine light, I just happened to hook up my bavarian technic and discovered the code. The only symptom I'm having is poor cold start idle quality.
I'm bringing my car to the dealer on Friday - I'll let you know what they discover. Reading your post - one question - after your indy shop replaced the valvetronic servomotor - did they use a BMW software tool to do the valvetronic servomotor limit stops learn procedure that is required? See the below DIY from Pelican Parts - it's for an N52 but I think it would be reasonable to assume that we need to do the learn procedure as well after replacing the servomotor. I can tell you I had the BMW service doc in front of me when I replaced mine and it did not say anything about a limits test. I didnt do one and have not had a problem. If you listen closely after shutting off the car you can hear the eccentric shartft going from min to max and back. I would think it knows exactly where the limits are. Hopefully your dealer comes up with a different reason for the code.

Thankd coast 90 would be appreciated if you could seems i have one injector on its way out aswell as the Valvetronic fault its booked back in with the indy week after next would be nice to just have the car running 100%.

Following up here - took my car to the dealer. They confirmed the 2E0F code on their equipment. The service advisor told me it was kind of a dead end - there is no standard procedure to address that particular code. They suggested I continue driving the car and if anything else happened, bring it back.
This morning I started the car - my cold start idle issue was gone. I broke out my BT, and the 2E0F code was listed as "not currently present". I cleared the code and it did not return. My problem appears to be solved. The service advisor told me they didn't do anything - but my issue has been resolved. I wonder if the tech did some kind of reset with the computer? |

This is exactly what's happening to my car right now. Absolutely horrible sound and it didn't start until after they had done the recall on my VANOS bolts.

Sorry to revive an old thread but did anything ever come of it? Idk if it's safe to drive with the 2e0f code I also have. Am I just driving around without valvetronic?

Pretty much. I drove on it for 2+ months before realizing I had autoclear on. Just makes for some lumpy idle and odd stop and go traffic.

my 13 F13 also have this problem. drive train and drive stabilisation warning randomly shows up. must turn off and on the engine few times to get rid of it.
all the SA said valvetronic problems. but not sure. im afraid the DME is damaged as well. any pros here have fix this before ? |
