So if I read everything right this is only for CIC and the latest update that works with ccc is the 2015 update?

Worked like a charm. Took about 45 - 50 minutes to update from the 2019-1.

Hey friend. Based on your image, it looks like you extracted files from part 1 (5 total) and then put the pkgdb and config files from part 1 onto your 32gb USB. That part worked for me and is consistent with other experiences on here. What remains unclear to me is what to do with parts 2 - 5 from the original map download (2020 in my case). From what I am reading, some users just did part 1 and nothing else. Others did part 1, then followed with part 2 but nothing else. Attached is a pic of the map files - both initial download and then extracted by parts 1 - 5. Did you go onto finish all 5 parts? @narcis

Any insight is appreciated.

CIC and more recent map years

Wait, so this means any map years after 2015 do not work on a CIC set up? In my case, I have a 2013 X3 (F25) with a 2010 map currently. I just downloaded the 2020 NA Premium map(s). If A Aron and his understanding of this thread is accurate, then that means I cannot update my car beyond a 2015 map edition?

The gen 1 i-drive CCC is limited to the 2015 map update. It was last used in 2008-2009 models. The gen 2 i-drive CIC can be updated to the latest 2020 map. Eventually CIC will also stop getting updates.

To unzip these, you just have to click on any one of them and they'll all get decompressed into one folder. If you move one of the files to the trash and click on one of the others, it will ask you to find the missing files.... so even though it appears that you're only unzipping one, you're unzipping all

Never had a problem updating maps in the past but I'm having issues this time. Formatted a 64GB stick to 32GB fat32 and have just the pkg and config files on the drive, but the car isn't seeing them. It's the first time I've tried the one-stick setup though - in the past I've always had multiple files and had to pop in a different USB stick for each. Am I correct in understanding that isn't necessary with these files? Also, I've downloaded a few times and unzipped, I'm only at 26GB

I'm in a similar boat. I'm thinking the large file size causes the car to take much much longer to recognize the data file and initiate update.

In the past, I've always kept each import under 4gb at a time.

I've unzipped them all and can see the pkgdb and config files in their various parts. My question is to what sequence I follow to import to the car. Is it part 1 alone (26gb)? Is it part 1, then part 2, 3, 4, then 5 all stored in smaller segments on different drives (or wiping one out then re-using for each part)?

I think the different parts are just created automatically by the archiving app - these create a single directory when unrared

Ok, I figured it out. The OP's 2020 map files do extract into 5 parts; however, when you extract part 1 you get everything you need (26 GB total). I imported those files (pkgdb & config) onto a 32 GB USB and it took about 75 mins total to complete the update.

One more clarification. Other posts on this process question having an "update" option in the Navigation Option menu. The option to Update is not visible until the car/hard drive/nav software recognize the USB with map files. For me, it took about 90 seconds before the option to Update appeared.
