Is anyone willing to make them and how much? Surely someone who's good with this stuff would turn a (small?) profit over parts for fellow board members.

I waited too long on this thread and eventually decided to buy the oem alarm, mounted and coded by myself. Much better.

Completed the OEM alarm installation. It was quite easy to install the hardware and the coding took only 15 minutes, added the chirp, hood switch & HB when activated. Well worth the upgrade to have a full functional alarm system.

Old DIY i know, but on my e46, all i did was enable alarm via coding and without the alarm system, the nose flashed when locked. Cant we just do the same here?

does anyone know if this mod would work on f30? Or did on f30? I know its a different car but maybe the wires at the top work in the same way.

No, it doesn't work. I tried it before, only works with the e46.

is it not easier, just to code the car and when the doors are locked, the led under the mirror blinks?
it can be done, it s a sure thing

So you want to tell the car (literally change the VO) that it has the alarm kit with an interior motion sensor (with nothing hooked up) and that it has a hood switch sensor (with nothing hooked up) and expect it to function without any errors?

Please show video of this being done. Not trying to start an argument here, but I'd like to see your proposal tested. I HIGHLY doubt it works.

For the ones wanting the led to blink but not buying the alarm system and creating there own print Conrad has a preassembled print for train led flashing: Train Modules 25465

I tested it out and this works perfectly, you can adjust the length of blink and the pause seperately so it easy to sync according to an original alarm.

Hi all enthusiasts and designers who developed this awesome idea, I read all of the post, and quite frankly I liked it (another weekend DIY).
But, there is a one small detail that is still missing for a guys like in mine situation.
Basically, my e90 doesn't have a "Red Clown Nose" cap hence, LED inside (it's just a simple black rotating handle manually switching the dimmer).

Therefore, there are no electrical wires (I guess) giving me the 4.5-5 V after locking. That's why I went with a simple manual switch + 12V self flashing LED, but the frequency is quite different from the OEM alarm (it blinks brightly enough, but with 60Hz - 60 times per minute).
This is where my frustration raises, every single time I park the car in a public areas I need to turn it ON manually and then leaving the car getting all of your stuff (if you have something in the trunk or back seats). Therefore, the LED starts blinking immediately even you still inside, which is disturbing for me.

The question for all of you geniuses, if there is a way to use this small gadget (I am good with all electric tools) but I do not know the "if" there are any cables inside the manual BMW mirrors. Any reply and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. My vehicle is European Diesel version belonging to 2006-2009 release and does not have a sunroof

You can easily take of the mirror to check but for sure there will be no cables to the mirror, what will be the use?

You can take of the mirror by removing the cover behind it and then rotate the complete mirror a quarter to the right.

Mirrors with the clow nose can be bought on eBay.de under €50
I have a mirror with auto dimming but without led for sale if you are interested.

The module I posted in the previous post has an operating power of 5-24Volt so probably will work connecting to pin 1 of the 14 pin connector in the light unit to start flashing when the doors are locked. voltage goes from 4,8V to 12V then.

I am trying this DIY and I am running into a problem. I have an auto dimming mirror so I am unable to trace which wires go to the LED and which ones are for the auto dimming function.
I read that the black and brown coming out of the mirror are for the LED but I have also read that red/purple and grey/purple wires in the headliner are the ones I want to tap into. These do not correspond to the same wires so I am wondering if anyone can help me out.

Pin 8 and 9 are for the LED.
8 is constant positive, 9 is connected to ground when Led should blink.

When you have the autodimming pin 10 will already be connected as well with constant ground.

after alot inspiration of all the diy/ retrofits on the internet i now made my own.
Alarm Led/ Rudolph red nose DIY made on Bmw e90 320i 2006. Pre Lci

Parts Needed.

1x LED Digital DC 12V Time Delay Relay Module Programmable Timer Relay Control Switch Timing Trigger Cycle

1x An e90 US Spec mirror with all options

1x Waterproof Car Relay DC 12V 40A 5Pin Automotive Fuse Relay Normally Open

3 pcs Insulated Crimp Terminal Wire Connectors Ant Wire Clamp Nylon Insert Combo Kit Solderless Quick Connector
-
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3292...27424c4dorRWGj

2 pcs cable shoes.
some small wire. I used 0.5mm2 and about 4 meter.

NOTE. ALWAYS REMOVE NEGATIVE FROM BATTERY THERMINAL BEFORE DOING ANYTHING WITH YOUR CAR ELECTRICITY. IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG ITS ON YOUR OWN RISK.

so. I wanted my Led in my mirror to blink or do something instead of just sitting there and do nothing. I used some parts from china to make this work instead of having siren, bump contact, room sensor ETC..

so how its work

I connected everything up so when I put in my key into the car and push it in ignition. With/out motor start, the relay pull and the power from the counter is gone. As long the ignition is on the ALARM LED Will not blink. But after key is out and the radio turn off the led will start blink with the interval you made on the counter device.

EXTRA/ IF YOU GOT TIME TO FIND IT
IF IT SHOULD BE DONE RIGHT THE RED WIRE THERE GOES TO THE HEADUNIT IGNITION
SHOULD BE REPLACED BY A CONNECTION THERE GIVES 12V WHEN CAR IS LOCKED AND 0V WHEN CAR IS UNLOCKED. BECAUSE IN THAT CASE. THE LED WILL STOP BLINK WHEN THE CAR IS UNLOCKED AND START BLINK AGAIN WHEN THE CAR IS LOCKET.
IF IF IF. ITS POSSIBLE TO FIND THAT WIRE. THE 5 POLE RELAY IS NOT NESSARY. AND YOU CAN WIRE DIRECT INTO THE TIMER/COUNTER

RT/SW = Pin 11 in Fzd FZD X14286

Off= 7 Sec On = 1 Sec Off=7 Sec

i have also shared a Google drive file if anybody want it.
