Slipping clutch?

Well it seems my clutch is starting to vibrate when it engages in 1st gear unless I really baby the engagement and after I drive hard or just drive for a long time I can smell a burning smell coming from somewhere around the engine. So does this sound like a transmission issue or a clutch problem? I've been thinking about getting a Motiv or a Spec Twin Disc clutch with a SMFW, but I really haven't looked into aftermarket clutches too much and this seems like as good a time as any to be looking into replacements.

What plans do you have power wise down the road? The 335is clutch is a good option, it's cheap, drives like stock, but can hold some pretty serious torque over the stocker.

I plan on going single turbo down the road which is why I was looking at the Motiv clutch because it's rated for 900 hp.

Then pretend I didn't just recommend that clutch

There's a few people running the twin disc setup, if you have the means to buy that, than I'd say go for it. It's supposed to feel pretty close to stock (versus a 6 puck or something), and is rated for more power than this platform has seen. Torque is the main culprit of clutch slip, and PTF shows that the clutch is rated for 900 TQ.

That's most likely what I was going to buy I just don't know what flywheel I should go with or if the disc comes with a flywheel. Also considering it's pretty new I didn't know if anyone had any comparisons to make between the Motiv Twin Disc and the Spec Super Twin.

The pressure plate on a Twin Disc is machined (rather than stamped), and requires a specially designed flywheel specific to the pressure plate (no other flywheel will work with it).

Our Twin Disc is under development, but no ETA yet due to a large backlog of other projects.
